I think this was mentioned before, but I'd like to ask this again, too:

Would it be a good idea if all the re-assignable population which works on food production would be automatically re-assigned to dust production as soon as a settler is being actively built ?

This could happen "behind the scenes" as soon as the "End Turn" button is pressed.

Meaning that at the start of the next turn, all food workers are back there again.

Showing a pop-up message at the start of the new turn, stating something like "Food workers were automatically re-assigned for the last turn", would be the icing on the cake ...

I would rather that they just move all food production to industry behind the scenes when a settler is being built.  This way there's actually a benefit to building a Seed Storage before pumping out a settler.

If they were to do this they would need to raise the cost of settlers a bit, but I think it's a much more elegant solution.

I would hope the auto-reassign would not allow food production to go negative.

I actually kind of like managing the citizen assignments when building a settler.   It's a reminder that I'm doing something out of the ordinary - getting ready to expand my empire, not just building another unit or building.   Also, I like a reason to review and maybe change my citizen assignments - I tend to manage them very closely.

Good luck doing it with 10+ cities, on top of having Settler at the top of queue, even if purchased, still eating all food for that turn.
