Excessive need for glass-steel began when construction in the city.

Construction in the city, on average, requires more glass-steel than any other strategic resource. I base city (being in the last, 6th. era) and ranks them all in a row, in the end, the glass-steel began to become 0, while the other strategic resources are spent on much less!

It's an imbalance! Fix, replace part of the need for glass-steel, of the same titanium.

Different types of building need different resources.  If you want dust/food you need glasssteel.  If you want science/production you need titanium.  I think the demand for the different resources are balanced among the buildings, but the problem is dust is so much more powerful than production in this game that it does wind up putting a lot of pressure on glasssteel.

I tend to agree on that.

Around turn 100 (approx.) I usualy just buy all my production with Dust. I like to play the Dust focused factions but even with the WW this strategy always come to be the most attractive at some point. I'm sure there are plenty of ways to play but it always seems like I'm slowing my dev. if I don't focus on dust.

Sorry for necro-ing this thread, but....

Glass-Steel is the most important recource. When I build a new city up from ground, I need far more glass-Steel than Titanium, which I in turn need more than Adamantium and Palladium (of which I both need around the same from what I have seen). Mithrite and Hyperium are barely needed, especially if the unique buildings are already constructed.

The greatest problem is, that Glass-Steel is both Food and Dust based, both of which you want to develope. Titanium is primarily science, and secondarily Industry based.

You tend to have more Food+Dust based technologies than science ones. Some of which cost up to 25-30 glass-Steel (Dust Revitalizer, Town Criers). Lets look at Era 5 for example:

Glass-Steel: 30 + 25 + 10 + 5 (not counting Leecher). (+10) for Traitors Lottery.

Titanium: 20 + (10) + (10) due to the fact that there is no longer science based tech for new cities. Razors Pallisade isn't a high priority thing, either, in my opinion.

This Era is the greatest offender. Era 3 has some minor disbalances as well, but that is only due to the priority you will use (as in, science often comes after food and dust).

Personally, I am always trying to not use Glass-Steel for anything armor related - since it feels a waste to use it. Actually, I prefer Mithrite and Hyperium equipment in the lategame, solely because I often have a surplus of these recources - though I do have a lot of Palladium and Adamantium in general, too, compared to Glass-Steel.
