Gaining such detail from graphs via espionage would be awesome. Imo it would give validation and story-support for the numbers, instead of a bunch of stats falling in your lap. To be honest it ruins it for me when the game arbitrarily gives me data like this and ruins my immersion in the game's world.

But on the other hand espionage systems annoy me to no end when they are implemented Civ V like, so an espionage system in EL would be a double edged sword for me...

btw the more detail in in game stats the better. Always so useful.

Touching on earlier posts:

I'm all up for a map timelapse to see how an empire fared, etc., this really helps the narrative, and After action reports are always a great way to entice people to play (I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest they can be exported in .gif format to be hosted on forums and whatnot, that'd be a first smiley: stickouttongue ).

Stats about others in real-time, though, unless strongly muddled by the game or relative diplomatic status, would be detrimental.

I don't like it that in Endless Space you have a score attached to everyone, at all times, as it helps people who've never met you gauge your strenght. smiley: frown

Hmmmmm . . . like a sort of Ministry of Propaganda?

On the flip side, it would be cool to have the ability to damage the image of another faction (fake a scandal, etc.).

well if you want a realistic espionage system you should have more than 3 spies at a time. I personally think spies would not be units but people you train in secret that will flock to the enemy's cities. it would be nice if you could go more in depth in placing spies to learn more information on certain subjects at different risk levels to the spies being caught, i.e. getting your spy into the military will give more military info but at high risk while say disguising your spy as a merchant would give more economic information at a lower risk. spies also performing various kinds of mischief, assassination, robberies, inciting the people, arson, sabotage, the list goes on but it would be interesting to see an in depth espionage system that incorporates some of this.

Yeah, that'd be a lot of fun. Espionage systems, like AI, seem to be an afterthought more often than not.

Stats don't necessarily have to come from espionage, though. As Varadhon touched on above, they could come from diplomatic actions (trade stats for a show of trust and a diplo boost with AI for example), treaties (the more the factions deal with each other via trade, open borders, etc. the better they get to know each other - this could create some interesting dilemmas wrt backstabbing imo) or simply tech/buildings in the more "modern" eras (so until [satellites/internet/whatever] is researched, information is vague, but after which it becomes more concrete).

PS Long-time lurker, first-time poster - can't wait for this game smiley: biggrin

Hi folks,

Seeing as Endless Legend is a few months away, I'm thinking I'll have a better chance here with you guys on this one.

So, an interesting bit of some 4X is the evolution of your empire compared to competition. This is something that is sorely lacking in Endless Space as it currently stand: you have your global score to compare yourself to other races at the instant T, and that final score, which is nicely broken down into sections.

How about a graphic with various settings to get the who's who on the victory screen?

I'm talking about a souped-up version of this kind of stuff:

You can clearly see at what moment certain civilizations declined, and also that the Romans player seemed to be playing on easy mode. It also really makes me want to play Civ 2. smiley: stickouttongue

Say you get that kind of screen, and can tick if you want to break down score by categories, to have every player be a solid color, itself broken down in several hues or with various symbol backgrounds like little swords for the science part of one's score, etc. (I'm trying to think of the colorblinds among us -being one myself, I know that multiplying colors is hardly ideal).

What do you guys think?

PS: Also, allow us to win with our allies and not against/in spite of them! See my previous thread on ES.

Pointless? They would show how you rate against others. That's invaluable (though I'll admit that 100% accurate stats are unrealistic and artificial). We've compiled this sort of information for years in almanacs (even the Norman English had the Domesday Book in the 11th Century). I like the idea of a fog-of-war/level of uncertainty in the computation of foreign stats, though. Your estimates could be refined over time by extensive contact with another faction or through espionage.

I'd like to see a couple of things with this actually:

1. Statistics charts/graphs available DURING game play (relied on them plenty in MoO, MoO2, and MoM)

2. A world map replay (at least at the end of the game) so that you can watch the development of factions on the map.

Query: Has anyone else noticed the fact that we don't seem to have a mini map in the main game screen? This seems odd.
