Two of the things I have noticed regarding the Research Tree.



1) Modifying your research plan once you've queued things up isn't possible. If I have five techs queued up and want to change the order / insert a 6th somewhere, I have to deselect the technologies and then reselect them in the new order / with the new tech added. If possible I think the ES version of interface would work better where if you click on a new research that automatically becomes what you are researching, and then holding LSHIFT would let you queue up others behind it.



2) This may be intentional or it may be a bug, but currently if you are researching a technology and deselect it, when you re-select it you will have lost all progress towards the tech. If i have spent 9 of 10 turns researching something, and then stop because I've had to make an emergency switch to another tech to handle a new situation, I don't burn my books on the previous tech I was studying, I simply put them aside and get back to them when I have a moment. I understand that cost goes up as you preform more researches but that should be calculable and the new cost reflected.



  • E.g. It takes 70 Science to research tech A @ 10 Science a turn it would take 7 turns. On turn 5, I switch and research Tech B to completion (70 Science @ 10 Science a turn for 7 turns). The science cost to complete a tech is now 100 Science (as opposed to 70), when I return to Tech A, it sees I have 50 Science already invested in the tech, so it would take me another 5 turns (@10 Science a turn) to complete the last 50 Science I need to meet the new goal of 100.
