in this PC gamers article, i find an interesting quote.

"Some, like the Roving Clans, are a little unconventional. This nomadic culture’s only purpose is to facilitate trade between other factions. If they get wiped out, there is no trade. Amplitude anticipate they’ll become a pawn for warrior and diplomacy factions to fight over, but they’ll also form an intelligence network. They oversee and take a cut from every transaction, which gives them a unique overview of the marketplace."

assuming these clans are in the final game. will they be playable or minor?

if playable, will they still be able to assimilate minor factions?

will they, perhaps, be able to establish districts attached to allied cities at act as a trading market for that city, providing mutual bonuses?

That pararaph concerning the Roving Clans in the early press release was one of the things that really got my attention about this game. It certainly made it sound like they might end up being a playable faction that did not have their own cities.

Though a recently leaked xml file that listed only the names of the factions and their units, did have a settler for the Nomads listed. I will find them much less interesting if playing them only means that you have a faction with a desert flavor and units with names like Dervish.
