Named equipment and their ordinary counterparts

It seems that as of now, most of the named equipment is significantly weaker than their ordinary counterparts. For example, the Starblade (Tier 2 2H-sword of Glassteel) is only +6 ATK and +6 CRIT, while the ordinary T2 version of the Glassteel 2H-sword provides +19 ATK, +8 INIT, and +1 DEF. Similarly, the Spike of the Defender (T2 2H-spear of Titanium) only gives +10 ATK, while the ordinary version gives +13 ATK, +12 CRIT, and +2 INIT. This made me very sad.

Now, I understand that the named equipment can be found pretty early on and perhaps be a balance issue, and that's why they're so weak. However, the named weapons have some history to them; they're supposed to be a little more unique than your run-of-the-mill weapons. I feel like this should reflect stat-wise as well, if not in some kind of special ability or abilities that the equipment will bestow. But as it stands, there isn't that much incentive to use them, since they're pretty terrible compared to the ordinary versions.

As a suggestion, since the named weapons are typically Tier 2, perhaps they would be unlocked by advancing to the Age in which you would see the ordinary weapons unlocked, provided the research for them. That way it wouldn't topple the early game if you managed to get your hands on one of these items, but it would give you an advantage for searching them in having some decent equipment before researching the according thing.

Most of the 'unique' equips require an upper-tech resource anyways - there is no reason for them to be so bad.

Also would be cool if you could find blueprints for your army, not just hero only items.

I agree!!

In my first games, I was really psyched when i found those special t2 weapons and wanted to try them out quickly!

but in the end I never really used them, because often even tier 2 iron weapons were better or equally good.

Thats a real shame and a waste of nice designs too.

Yeh, the chances of getting some free resources from a quest AND a weapon/armor reward AND getting them before the weapon/armor tech shows up is pretty rare.

Scaling uniques by Tier is probably the way to go.
