Suggestion - Destroy Boroughs or District Option in City Menu

I for one find it highly annoying when I acquire a city from the AI and the boroughs are either overproduced, heavily impacting the happiness of the city, and or built in less than ideal locations making it nearly impossible to increase the city or district levels. One solution could be to implement a destroy option in the city menu, along with the rest of the completed improvements or extractors. Another possibility is to include a negative impact for 10 or 20 turns ideally one other than happiness like food, not sure really? I think that allowing players to destroy their boroughs or districts would be an improvement to an already great city development system in the game. Besides, sometimes you have to make a mistake or fail before you get it just right! Keep up the great work devs!

I think there is already an option to destroy boroughs, although I never used it myself, I read about it on the forum.

I just loaded a game to check it out, and didn't find anything, also browsed on internet what I could find and didn't find either.

So I guess I had a bad asumption smiley: biggrin

edit: I think what I read was simply a player mentioning raising to ash a city in order to build boroughs where he wanted.

+1, and just loosing 1 pop with the destruction should be enough i guess

Right, I think that would be a great solution to the possible consequence! Did not think about that.

Sure would be nice.

As for cost, you need to buy it again. ;-)

But futher penalties like loosing pop and stuff is also ok.

I'd say perhaps that destroying a Burrough should give a small disapproval hit, but man, Burroughs are already really awful in that building them gives disapproval already. Just straight up pop-loss might be for the best.

The whole borough dissaproval is kinda intriguing. You'd may think it would be overcrowding that would raise unhappiness. And since boroughs are tied to total pop, that would keep borough spamming in check too.

Somehow when looking at this topic I can't help but think of the Roman emperor Nero.

Indeed. Though Burroughs do return approval on the leveling of the city core (the first hex settled), they only do this if they themselves have been leveled. The tool-tip is misleading in that sense, because it looks like they're supposed to give approval even if unleveled, provided the city core itself is leveled. I'm unsure if this is what the devs had in mind as far as expansion goes, or if the system as it is currently isn't working properly. I feel like the Necrophage are the only faction currently that can actually take advantage of the mechanic, all the other races (particularly the Broken Lords) have a much more difficult time.

As far as the suggestion though, I'm in agreement. The AI really likes to snake for whatever reason, and this means a lot of disapproval on a conquered city I can't do anything about.
