Why do the biomes of the world are randomly placed instead of following a climatic pattern, just like in Earth? Since ES, where the planets' climates in a system do not follow a logical pattern, I've been buged by this feature.

It just feels so weird to see a jungle right next to a taiga that it makes me disappointed. So why can't we have an option to generate a world that makes sense in climatic terms? It would be more immersive (at least for me), and more logical.

Auriga is a strange place going into a series of winters that increase in duration until the summers disappear altogether. Consider this Alaska and Canada have rainforests. A third of the state of Oregon is Desert.

I personally find the map looks a lot more interesting when all the biomes are interspersed. And I don't see why Auriga has to follow the "model" of Earth so to speak, it is an entirely different kind of planet.

Shhh! Don't tell anyone, but the guy who randomizes the maps Before each game is actually Roland Emmerich.

But seriously, something like this could be implemented as part of the Standard Map of Auriga I suggested in a different thread (Shameless plug!: /#/endless-legend/forum/6-game-design/thread/3024-standard-map-of-auriga ).

I like the idea of an option for the biomes to make them more logical if you want it.

Nobody is foreced to use it and both sides are happy.

I Support the idea also. It would be great like Teslaflux wrote it as a Option at the map-creating. Like "realistic map: on/off".

I don't really happy with the... imho a bit random map that we have atm.

I thought that the gold standard for fantasy settings was supposed to be land types that don't make sense.

I always tried to imagine a story where these things made sense if you knew the backstory. For example, if there is an arctic tundra in the middle of a Europe-style climate, I assumed that there was a ice artifact of fell power that altered the climate in defiance of nature.

That could be a thing for the more logical climate option. For example an old Endless lab which was used to observe the fauna and flora of an jungle which suddendly meets the fauna and flora of an artic biom. The lab used some advanced climat controll or maybe just some geothermical heat and created the jungle region.
