Well, that post is about "Empire Building Immersion" and mostly "Role play aspects".

At the moment, when I build my empire, I dont feel to be the Supreme Ruler I am supposed to be.

I cant choose the way my empire work (like : Monarchy/Empire/Consulate/Oligarchy/Plutocracy....), I cant rename it after an important event, I cant

I cant make laws for the citizens, I do not control the justice in my nation ....

Little things, leading to great immersion that make you feel : "THIS IS MY EMPIRE, ITS THE BEST ON AURIGA, IM GONNA WIN ANYWAY" and the magic feeling :

"One more turn please..."

This is not a priority for the devs but that can make the difference between EL and the other 4X smiley: smile

So, tell me people what you would like to add as minor "roleplaying" features for immersion in that game. Lets talk about our craziest ideas about immersion :

I am starting with :

1. Government types : Imagine a Necrophage democracy ! The fatest candidate would be elected smiley: biggrin

How to implement it :

-faction trait with buff (democracy = +happiness, higher army upkeep...)

-quest

-Part of the empire plan

2. Dura lex, sed lex...

Laws : The Vaulters theocracy decide to forbid the fishing in protected areas (silly example ^^) --> -10% production in river tiles but +15 happiness in concerned cities from ecology.

How to implement it :

Temporary (between 3 and 10 turns) traits added to the factions bought with influence.

3. Custom banners : 4 Vaulters empire fight only for one reason : They have the same symbol on their banner !

How to implement it : I think there should be a little choice of 5-10 differents symbols for each factions.

Immersion before all !

Feel free to post your own ideas and comment mine !

Hello,

Governments? I think that 20 turn change is enough to plan my future empire. Also you can choose (not yet, but in the future) your own faction traits - like you could do in endless space.

Laws? I think that would be nice but way to hard to balance since they're would be just to many of them... and for each factions different laws ofc.

Banners. I dont care actually I just look at the colours. But it makes sense, this should be implemented.

Haha that was only crazy ideas, but about government, I find that Empire Plan would atleast be more immersive than was is it atm ^^

Empire plan is just too simple and boring at the moment. Managing a whole empire should be more interesting and challenging. smiley: smile

I've been thinking the same for a long time, which is why I've been trying to think of more interesting effects to mod in. My best bet at the moment is to give a given property of any entity and effect it does not usually have. Here are some examples:

Military:

- Garrisoned units provide 5 approval each

- Garrisoned units provide 2% ownership recovery each turn

- Cities are razed at double speed

Economy & Population:

- Trade routes provide food

Expansion & Exploration:

- Armies get 2 action points per turn

- unspent action point provides bonus healing

- Luxury extractors reduce Expansion Disapproval

If we can get 16 to 20 effects together, I might get to work modding again.
