Gender.

Diversity.

Seriously. What's with the lack of any dude mages?

Or chick Wild Walkers? (or Broken Lords for that matter).

It kills world immersion when I'm sitting there and have to assume that apparently not a single guy manifested magical aptitude amongst the ardent mages, or that not a single Wild Walker chick was good enough to be a political leader, warrior, or explorer.

I get the game's not done yet, that's why I'm putting this out there.

Gender Diversity. Just a little. Pretty please. Ya got 3 different char models for Ardent Mages already, it's not like it's not doable.

Also, I doubt it's gonna happen, but custom heroes would be awesome. Or at least the ability to rename existing ones.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Well, let's see; the Vaulters have 3 female skins, the Ardent Mages have 3 female skins, and the Roving Clans have 2. The Wild Walkers have 3 male skins, the Broken Lords have 3, the Necrophages 3, and the Roving Clans 1.

Female: 8.

Male: 10.

Seems like a fairly even distribution, albeit not necessarily across all the factions.

Now, granted, the fiction describing the heroes might not always agree with the skin (High Protector Toth Istvan of the Vaulters), but that's probably just a concession to practicality.

My point isn't that there's not an even distribution total, my point is that it kills immersion (and plain just doesn't make sense) that apparently these factions are completely gender-specific.

It'd take just as much effort to make each faction have at least one male and one female hero as it would to essentially gender-lock them as they are, but nope.

Seems like a poor oversight.

Thumbs up for custom heroes and customizing hero appearance/gender, if possible smiley: approval

But I get what you're going for. I guess some factions have one gender being more prevalent in leadership than the other.. I do hope that, at release, they add at least 1 more hero per faction which would even things out, perhaps a male hero to the Ardent Mages and a female hero to the Wild Walkers would be great. Plus it's always nice to have more options

How do you know if a Broken Lords or Necrophage hero are male/female by it's portrait? The firsts are armours full of dust (have they sex??) and the seconds are insectoid like, which I'm not sure which one is a queen, which is a male and which one is a sex-less worker. IMO it's like this:

Female: 8

Male: 4

Dust asexuated/sex-less workers: 6

Well, to be entirely honest, telling a male Broken Lord from a female one is rather easy; just look at this image* and you can see two female Broken Lords on the left hand side of the picture, flanking a male one.

As for the Necrophages... you honestly can't tell what gender they are, but all the descriptions refer to them as male (far as I know), so I'll assume that they're all meant to be male models.

I thought this was going to be about fixing the meaningless hero skill trees, but with the gripe about the hero portrait... not as interested.

Diversity of Racial Heroes, the thread just below this one, might be what you're looking for.

I don't see how it is immersion breaking. The Vaulters leaders are purposely supposed to be women, it's how they roll. The broken Lords have a femal hero in Dungeon of the Endless, but she doesn't make a cameo in EL. Necrophages Proliferator unit is female, she lays eggs inside dead corspses. SHe may not be a hero but the opposite sex is present... Wildwalkers have a female hero but she looks like a dude lol. Ardent mages have a female hero leader and the actual mages are female as well, with males being the main infantry unit, power through pain, almost S&M related.
