Cannot overstate how much 1-turn between combat orders ruins this game for me.

The two turns of combat between issuing orders in this game was basically the only thing that made combat in this fun at all. Having to plan for uncertainty and not always knowing exactly what was going to happen every battle made combat EXTREMELY fun, and the new system makes it the same boring crap every other game has. Why bother even having a separate battle sequence layer at this point? Just plop all the units out on the map like CiV and call it a day, because that's how it plays out anyway.

I liked having this too. Having an option to change it really isn't the same... its not like auto-combat vs manual, but actually changing manual.



At the very least, if we must have combat orders every round, at least make animations faster and streamline battles. I shouldn't have to spend 3 or 4 minutes on every little skirmish.

Would be nice to have an option in the "Create Game" settings to choose between 1-round and 2-round combat, cuz some players prefer one over the other and vice versa

Even in "full manual" combat, battle is pretty fun, keeps a measure of uncertainty and its fast resolved. Personally i like full control of combat, i dont mind for uncertainty but EL combat is something new and interesting. Wish this combat was in ES too.

I actually like how combat works now.

It's not as simplified as in ES and also not a tedious-micro-fest as in AoW3.



But I totally agree-about the animation speed. Especially the walking-parts. The game is really taxing on my patience at times.

I did not understand combat at all before, but I think I grasp it now.



There's not a single multiplayer 4X game that has tactical combat (without freezing the game for the rest of the players), but Endless Legend's way of getting it over relatively quick is very promising (if only multiplayer could work for me and my friends consistently).
