Am I the only one who wish we could build actual cities instead of settlers? Just have them move a tile a turn while harvesting the surrounding tiles until you plop it down in an uninhabited region?

Just imagine those giant scarab nomad cities moving across the landscape - armed with militia and city walls, but unable to build anything until they settle down. lol

It's funny you mention that. I always wondered why they didn't just use the Scarabs as the Settler model...

Not alone. I hope a few of those touches get added later.

I've given this some thought trying to think of how it could be implemented making it worthwhile to move your cities without it being overpowered. The generic Settler unit, (who somehow magically morphs into a giant Bug upon settling after reading too much Kafka on the way?), should definitely be replaced with a Scarab. I also think that Roving Clan cities should be permanently mobile and able to both build and harvest FIDS as long as they have not yet built any districts. As soon as you build your first District your city becomes immobile, and can use the current "Pack-up" ability to pack up the districts and become mobile again, just like it works in-game at the moment.

I think the slowness of the Scarab-cities compared to the settlers would be counter-acted by having them claim a neutral region as soon as they get to it. This way the speed of claiming new regions could be either faster or slower than the traditional way depending on the regions terrain and distance from your starting point. I also think the Roving Clans are a strong enough faction at the moment to risk taking a bump to their expansion speed in favor of uniqueness and flavor.

Maybe smaller 'baby scarabs' for settling units, once the city is founded and moved again it can be the large one we are used to. Pug included of course smiley: wink.

Mhmm - I like the concept.

With how fast the rest of their units are, it would certainly balance it out a bit by forcing you to escort your cities and slow down - or just have them move on their own and hope you don't get sieged.
