Randomization at choosing empires

Hi,



Thropug many games en ES and EL I found a lot of times that you play agains "repeated" empires. I understand that when you play with 8 empires some could be repeated, but not when playing against 4, being 4 Broken Lords.



I know that you can select the empires one by one or all random in game creation. But I didn't like to choose everything, and having repeated empires at same time.



For this I propose a third option on empire selection, which randomizes them, but ensures that there are no repeated empires, when planying against 4-5 IA, or at least you don't find playing against 4 of the same empire when playing aginst 7-8 IA.

Adding an option that ensures NO duplicate factions with randomization. Playing against 4 Necrophages can be too chaotic for me! Oo

Good news. I like to be the only one of my race when playing, but not knowing who is going to pop up is part of the fun. Twice now I've started a game and ran into the same empire that I was playing as. Third time I just selected all of them manually. Glad to hear that there might be a unique random option in the future.

To be precise, it remains randomization but we added some weight values.

For instance, if you got a Broken Lords as a first pick, for the second one there will be less chance to "randomize" another Broken Lords.

Sorry? But that is not what lo_fabre, KrimsonVagus, Ibarrington and me asked for, is it? Or is that still in the upcoming patch Saylawl mentioned?

Sorry if I was not clear enough. The randomization type I talk about was implemented not long before you opened this thread and you may have encounter less duplicate since then I hope.

But please be sure that we have heard your feedback.

Unfortunately, unless we look into implementing the "unique random" feature, if you absolutely want to play against all the factions, I suggest you to choose the faction of each AI.

No worries, it's a very minor issue with much more important things to do, I'm sure, and yes, I do use your workaround already (also to assign each faction a "suitable" color, like dark purple for necros and orange for roving clans, and so on). smiley: smile

I've been asking for this feature in Endless Space for two years now. Any chance you might do something there as well?

Something cool would be random traits for random factions, so if you fight 5 Vaulters, they would keep the "Vaulters traits" but will have different starting technologies or buff, making the random factions really less duplicated.

It's not exactly, but on my two gameplays on finished game I've only found a duplicated empire. It comes from making your game, er.. how to explain this strange feeling, to a mere annoyance, which disappears once the duplicated empire is conquered.



Not what asking for, but a good improvement from the beta. I think that actually amplitude should focus on bigger issues, and back to this in a time.
