No more letting the game select multiple versions of the same faction at random.

Can we get an option in the game to make it so that when the AI factions are set to random the game doesn't select multiple instances of the same faction? Seems a shame to have all these unique and interesting factions and not have the game use them all when I have it set to 8 AI players.

We've asked for this since the Endless Space beta - Maybe some day...maybe some day smiley: rollsweat lol

The chance for multiple factions of the same race is given but it is much lower than in ES.

But I don't understand why I would want multiple instances of the same faction at all. It makes no sense. If there are 8 factions, and I select 8 players, it seems much more logical to have the computer select one of each.

Just do what I do and manually select them all to have different factions. It doesn't take anything away from the game.

I always manually select the factions I want to play against, always. Ever since that last game of 4 factions including me, where I had to play against 2 Necrophages and Drakken I've really stayed away from random AI.

I like to just manually choose all the factions to be in the game from the start. For some reason, the Random AI function favors the "simple" factions like Vaulter and Wild Walkers. It rarely chooses the Ardent Mages for example... or maybe it's just me

It's what I end up doing too.

Another good thing in doing this is that I can select a proper color for each faction, makes them easier to recognize.

It does, but then again, maybe its time to start playing the game on other speeds than Fastest, if you restart THAT frequently?

Im still 30 hours into my first random map, so spending 20 seconds to choose factions manually at game setup seems like less of a big deal.

I enjoy playing random factions and I usually play with 8 factions, so choosing manually doesn't work because there is a chance that I will get a duplicate of one of those chosen - or if the weighting is working, I'll simply automatically get the one unchosen faction, which defeats the purpose.

Seems the only workaround would be to create a bunch of custom factions, but that is less than ideal (talk about tedious!).

Please make this happen, Amplitude! smiley: biggrin
