It would be useful for my play style to be able to reclaim cities for other factions. I love helping the underdog faction overthrow the tyranny and blood lust of an aggressive AI.



When I retake a city, an option to return ownership to its original owner could be given, and rewarded with positive relationship gain from that faction.

I thought I could just 'gift' the city as you can with resources but as far as I've seen, you can only do this when calling for a Truce.

In Civ 5 we had the option of "Liberating" cities. It helps a lot in diplomacy and is a great idea to give away cities that you don't need



It would be nice to add this with EL, giving you a boost to diplomatic victory or something like that...

It could be great for getting more diplomatic favor with certain factions, but as far as recapturing cities taken from a dead faction, I believe they should stay gone as it would be annoying fighting you already killed. And realistically their leaders would have been rounded up and probably killed and their people would be scattered across the planet, so it would be impossible to make a new empire in their name.

Good point

Since EL is more simplistic than Civ 5, I guess it can be that you can't return a city to its original faction unless that faction is still alive in the game. (i.e they still have at least 1 City)
