Hey there. I just started playing a day or two ago.

First, I'd like to say that I really like the game.

Second, I got a few suggestions/issues that I've gathered in these few hours of gameplay that I think can improve the game.

Some UI-oriented issues, which I found very annoying/lacking:
• In city-view, units are automatically selected; therefore, a right click on the map will issue an order to them.

This contradicts the "right button to close/go back" motive introduced in the tutorial (and regardless, it's very intuitive).

This could be resolved by not having the units automatically selected (I don't see the value of it).
  • It's a bit harder to value the land when planning colonization during winter. This of course goes the same way around (plan for the winter in the summer).

Maybe add a toggle for winter/summer view?
  • When hovering units, either in an army or in all kinds of menus, you can only see the names of their abilities/traits, but not the description (because when you try to hover the ability/trait, the unit information window disappear).

This makes it very hard/annoying to get a good read on a unit (at least for one who's not familiar with the abilities/traits).
  • I find it extremely lacking that there's no upkeep cost information on units before building them (either choosing them for production, or planning a new model).
  • I feel that there's no good indication of enemy armies around your borders.

Several times an army just "sneaked" through my territory and all of a sudden sieged a city; it's not that I didn't have the visibility, it was just not clear enough on the map.
  • There was an empire which attacked me, but at no point I saw a war declaration on me (and yes, after they attacked we were at war). Maybe it's a bug?

  •
Issues related to Minor Factions:
• The only time I could get the description of a minor faction is when I discovered them (in the popup), or after I pacified them and colonized their region (in assimilation menu). This makes it hard to plan the expansions of the empire.
  • There's no production nor upkeep cost description on the minor factions' units in their description (only after assimilating them).
  • Minor factions' armies will remain hostile even after the pacification/assimilation of their faction. Not sure this is intended, but if so, that's really beyond me.

  •
Some things that will be nice to have:
• An ability to stop a unit once it started moving (with "backspace" key, for instance).
  • Confirmation on actions. For instance, confirmation on engaging in battle. I found myself a few times accidentally starting a fight.
  • Reveal the name of a region once its encountered, not by looking at the "zoomed out" map (which forces you to reveal more area).
  • An ability to rename an existing unit model.
  • Auto-save at end of turn instead of beginning (maybe configurable in the settings?).
  • Separate notifications for each new siege on your cities. There was this one time when I was sieged in two cities; I noticed the first siege and dismissed the notification, but then I wasn't aware of the other siege.

  •
Unit upkeep is always 1 smiley: dust per unit experience level. Of course, the game assumes you would know this ...

Good to know. Probably written in the manual or something, but not in the game itself (or maybe I didn't pay attention).

UI-issue #2 has plagued me from the start.

    UI-issue #3 as well.

    Nice-to-have #2 and #3 are more like must-haves.

Nice-to-have #5 I agree with as well. Sometimes you click next turn after making all these different changes (such as unit compositions, luxury boosters, hero skills), but before altering your workers, constructions or researches. Sometimes you want to go back a turn to fix that. If it saves "before" the end-turn, you can edit the workers, constructions or researches, without losing the unit compositions etc, but if it saves "after" the end-turn, then you lose the whole turn's progress.

I agree with all your concerns, but those are the ones I feel are must-haves.
