I really love this game (I've been looking for an alternative to Fall From Heaven forever!) but does need a bit more polish.



One thing that really tripped me up on my first game was that peace treaties only last 10 turns. Ouch!



Yes it says right there in the description in the diplomacy window but coming from other games you just don't expect it, and it's very easy to overlook when there is so much else to learn! Even worse, the notification that your peace treaty has run out IS TURNED OFF BY DEFAULT! At first I thought the end of my peace treaty was a bug!



Here is my fix suggestion:



- Make two diplomatic options:

Temporary Peace (10 turns)

Lasting Peace



The temporary peace should be clearly labeled as such!

While in temporary peace, you get the diplomacy and trade benefits of peace, and you can upgrade to lasting peace (at a lower cost than entering lasting peace from cold war).



AI Factions should be fairly happy to enter a temporary peace. For lasting peace, they should ask something in return (especially if they have strategic reasons why they want a war against you later).



Also, the notification that a temporary peace is about to end (= change of diplomatic status) needs to be turned on by default.

I think you are confusing a Truce with Peace.



When you are at war, you can form a truce which lasts ten turns. At anytime after the truce is formed you can negotiate Peace if you have the Diplomat's Mance tech. Peace will last until it is broken.

There are two kinds of peace, kinda. The first lasts 10 turns as you said, but you stay at peace with the faction afterwards. The only difference is that you can pursue further diplomacy afterwards or break it by declaring war (doing it during the timed window for peace or truce costs more influence, at least).
