Hi! Thanks for great series, not every day we are witnessing a birth of completely new franchise. Just wanted to share some thoughts after my two completed games.

I absolutely love how differently every faction plays. And thanks a ton for big screen menu, it's amazing how almost every company releases their strategies with microscopic menus and fonts in times of 16:9 monitors *cough*CrusaderKings*cough*.

However I found this game a bit event-less and because of that slightly boring, especially if you play as Drakken, waiting for diplomatic victory. There are numerous ways to make it feel more alive, and also more close and personal.

1. Separate queues for buildings and units. I know it's hardly possible to implement but I still mention it.

2. Side quests with 3-4 stages from some personalities. Some powerful mage or landlord, or merchant, or pirate - you get the point.

3. Neutral cities with strong garrison. They could give you massive quest with 3-4 stages as minor factions or trade with you not willing to join you, or could be taken by force.

4. Winter now is just one big debuff. It could change things more interestingly - f.e. deactivate some luxury resources.

5. Outros! Perfect variant - different outros for every type of victory possible for faction. Realistic variant - one outro for each faction. "You are victorious" screen is underwhelming. smiley: frown

6. Research is so fast I barely can implement new tech in my cities. Bam! Welcome to new Era! We need research speed slider.

Those are most notable things I could remember now. What bothers you guys?

Not sure what you mean by 1 or 6, but I agree with everything else, I would especially love to see Outros.

One thing I would like to see changed in the base game is combat - I want unit-turn-based combat, or failing that, I want units to have either free counterattacks or no counterattacks.

There are lots of different things I would like to change myself in a mod, which taken together would make quite a different game, so I won't suggest them here. A lot of those things simply can't be modded though, as far as I know (sigh).

i definitely agree with most of what you are saying. 1 could be interesting, but that would be a big overhaul.

side quests that feel epic. the main quest line feels pretty epic and interesting, but the side quests are usually lacking.

and i agree with 6 that research sometimes is faster than you can build what you just researched. i haven't put a huge number of hours into this game, but i definitely see myself splitting up what each city is for than rather trying to build everything everywhere. so this helps with 1 and 6.
