So after a couple of games Ive come to the conclusion that Mithrite and Hyperium weapons are kinda meh and the armor isn't too hot either, with a few exceptions. I will say that Tier 3 Hyperium and Mithrite weapons have the best stats, but of the 200 + hours i have put into this game I think ive gotten them like only twice. But in comparing Tier 1 Adamant and Palladian weapons with their Hyperium and Mithrite equivalents I have to go with the Adamant and Palladian, likewise i tend to prefer the stats on the tier 2 Adamant and Palladian vs the teir 2 Mithrite and Hyperium (when you can get them)

Now with armors its a little different, tier 1 Mithrite and Hyperium are okay, but dont offer the stats i typically need, the best thing you can get it the Mithrite Gleaves, especially the tier 2 and 3s

To fix this you have two options, first give Mithrite and hyperium weapons a buff thats big enough to make them better than Tier 1 Adamant and Palladian Weapons but not better than the tier 2s.

The second option, which would be my preference, keep the stats the same as they are now, and but add an additional capacities. All weapons after era 3 have the same capacities. Like give the Hyperium or Mithrite Clamore and sweeping strike like the Erycis have. Give the Longbows a boost to range. Give the crossbows a chance to stun. And this could be extended to the Armors as well but maybe limited to the Cuirass, like add regeneration 1 or Disease Immunity

I put together some example comparisons based on the stats here (not entirely sure whether they're up to date, but it's what I found). These tables compare tier 2 adamantian and palladian versus tier 1 mithrite and hyperium:

Axe
Ada2 Pal2 Mith1 Hyp1

Ind Cost 100 100 100 100

Res Cost 8 8 2 2

Attack 77 77 51 89

Defense 6 12

Damage 48 48 48 48

Initiative 9 21 15 9
Claws and Longbows (same stats for both)
Ada2 Pal2 Mith1 Hyp1

Ind Cost 100 100 100 100

Res Cost 12 12 6 6

Attack 119 119 77 111

Defense 8 16

Damage 68 68 68 68

Initiative 24 9
Magewand (Unsteady debuff)
Ada2 Pal2 Mith1 Hyp1

Ind Cost 100 100 100 100

Res Cost 12 12 6 6

Attack 113 113 71 105

Defense 8 16

Damage 56 56 56 56

Initiative 19 43 28 19
Tier 1 mithrite/hyperium is available an era earlier, and at least for the above weapon types, seems to cost the same industry and significantly less strategic resources. Despite this, it deals equal damage and has similar other stats. It looks like the palladian wins everywhere if initiative is a priority, but otherwise hyperium is at least arguably the best axe.

The mithrite/hyperium generally seem a bit weaker, which is understandable considering they're from an earlier era, but I think in many cases you could justify using them even if you already have both techs (to save on strategic resources, if nothing else). Also, since you can't really convert one type of strategic resource into another, you might want to use a mixture of all of these just to utilize all of the resources you happen to have.

Even if you compare mithrite/hyperium to tier one adamantian/palladian, the adamantian/palladian still cost more strategic resources (though less industry), and of course in that case the adamantian/palladian have significantly worse stats than in the above comparison (in particular, lower damage, which I think most would agree is the most important weapon stat).

Are these numbers wrong? What makes you say the mithrite/hyperium weapons are "meh"?

I tend to agree with OP. I tend not to use 1st level of HYP/MITH.

From the game:

Claws:

Pal 2: 116 ATT, 70 DAM, 24 INIT

Mith 1: 74 ATT, 70 DAM, 9 INIT, 16 DEF

Mith 2: 95 ATT, 86 DAM, 9 INIT, 20 DEF

HYP 1: 108 ATT, 70 DAM

HYP 2: 123 ATT, 86 DAM

I could argue that higher ATT and INIT would be best here and take the Pal 2 (initiative is op).

However the real difference is in armor:

Chest:

ADA 1: 24 DEF, 48 HEALTH

ADA 2: 29 DEF, 60 HEALTH

Mith 1: 18 DEF, 52 HEALTH, 6 ATT

HYP 1: 18 DEF, 56 HEALTH, 1 INIT

Even ADA 1 could be argued as the better then Mith and HYP 1

Granted Ive been playing a lot of factions that use archers lately, and the high attack and high initiative often wins battles, its just the stats of most the Hyperium and Mithrite just dont have the numbers in the places i want. And as i said there are certain exceptions, the having the demons with tier 2 or 3 Hyperium Hammers are murder machines. The hyperium and Mithrite armors are better although i will never understand that single point of initiative on that tier 1 Hyperium armor
