[other Language Support] Amplitude Studio, please read this. need help.

hello. I`m korean gamer who loves this game. I joined a translation team that traslated many games into korean language. and I translated Endless Legend`s All xml files in localization/.xml in korean.

but there is a technical problem about fonts. the fonts in this game is too hard to modify so our programmer can modify well. so he wanna stop the translate the game. but I wanna complete translation.

Steam supports korean, and korea have many gamers who loves 4X games. there are many koreans bought Endless Legend , they need korean language support to play well. If Amplitude Studios help applying the translated .xml files into game, It will be great solution about this problem.



please help us. I`ll wait the answer. thx.

our programmer said Endless Space`s Font was far easier than Endless Legend

and there was japanese translation patch before korean patch. so programmer guy refered that so he can did it.

sorry that I can`t use good English. cuz I dont use English as speaking/writing. I can only read/translate to korean.

Hi there,



How many characters to you think you would need for the korean translation? Our font system has some limits, as the fonts are merged in a big atlas with other GUI bitmaps (for display performance reasons). And the limit to this atlas is 2048x2048, so we are a bit afraid of the number of asian characters

You could use only the characters you need for the translation and not the whole Character list..

korean language isn't ideogram like chinese character. its phonogram. small letters make the block(2~3 letter makes one block) and blocks make a word.

from wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangul)

it can be simplify by mix 40 letters, but maybe Unity engine cannot do that.(except using some tools)

all possible hangul block is 11,172 block but no one uses them all. the number of early encoded hangul blocks are around 2,500 blocks. so maybe it's the number of characters needed. I can send this lists of characters to you. If you needs another information, I can bring them from our korean programmer and teammates.

we can translate other games If korean word can be shown.

2500 characters... That is a lot, and yes we have to capture all combinations in individual glyphs...



I am not sure our current technology can hold that many chars.

Our teammate suggest that game loads the korean font situationally if there is korean localization folder with .xml in game localization folder. If this can be done, we can make the font for korean language.
