I'm new to the game, so I'm not at the point where I can offer substantial opinions on the game thus far. So far I have a positive vibe. My question, is there some option somewhere that I missed so anomalies are displayed on the map when zoomed out? If not, would it be possible to add such an option?

The map has a lot of graphical detail to it, so sometimes it can be tricky picking out all of the special locations and knowing what they are. Temples and neutral cities are displayed on the map when zoomed out which is good. If anomalies were also displayed, planning city expansion would be easier.

Thanks!

I wonder if that would be a good idea, as there's a lot of anomalies. Wouldn't the map be cluttered with them ?

There already is an icon for anomalies on the map, but it is very, very tiny and almost impossible to see over terrain like forest. See the screenshot attached.

I agree that it would be better the icon was larger.

^^ yep there's already a symbol for anomalies on the map but they are tiny and very hard to spot, perhaps if the symbol was larger or in bold it would be easier to spot.

Wow, I never even saw the anomaly symbol. It would be great if it were more apparent - bigger, or perhaps have a sparkle effect of some kind, or more noticable color based on background terrain.

Would it also be possible to display the terrain my city is built on (sorry if there is already a button to switch off the city display, if so I haven't found it yet) as there are some techs that offer bonuses depending on the environment the city is built on (as far as I remember, '+X on anomaly' for example).

What you can do is hover the mouse over each district. The tooltip will tell you the information of that district as well as the tile underneath.

Wow, I did not even know that there is a symbol for anomaly in the zoom-out view.

Would be nice if it were bigger or more bold... Or just use a BIG exclamation mark ! instead (cuz anomalies are.. well, anomalies)

You know, a way to take this further could be making a full game-board style viewing mode, made op of different colored tiles representing each piece of terrain, and different symbols representing things like units or monopolies. This could be similar to the game-board view option in Civ, what do you think?

Just registered an account here because Endless Legend is awesome! Also to say please, Amplitude, if you read this, make the Anomaly icon more visible somehow!

Thanks for making such a great game!

Wow, I didn't know there was an anomaly symbol on the map. This, after staring at the map wishing the anomaly symbols were marked on it. Now I'll have to load up my latest game stare at the map to make sure they're actually there, and not suppressed by a graphical glitch!

That said: I understand and agree that the anomaly symbol should be less obtrusive than the temples/villages/strategic/luxury symbols, (all of which are more important than the location of anomalies), but at the same time I think the anomaly symbol should appear more prominently on the map than its current iteration, which people (myself included) are apparently overlooking.

Perhaps it's time for a map marker toggle of some sort? Check anomalies to have them marked with a stronger icon, etc.

Ok, I see the anomaly symbols now. And yeah, they blend into forest terrain (or the city district overlay, for that matter) such that it becomes very difficult to notice them. I can, at least, now reliably spot anomaly symbols on non-forest terrain if I'm looking for them.

. . . and apparently there are two sizes of anomaly symbol? Some anomaly symbols are about double the size of other anomaly symbols. What does the large symbol represent, compared to the small one?

I think the big ones represent anomalies that provide +10smiley: approval such as the Life Tree or Earth Spine... compared to "smaller" anomalies without the smiley: approval bonus such as the Escaped Specimens and Chromatic Lands... or maybe just the height variation?
