Minor Factions becoming bigger Empires? An idea I had.

Like lets say one minor faction attacks your city, and they happen to overwhelm your troops/defenses , and you lose the city, but instead it allows the option for the minor faction to rise to power and become an Empire! Allowing for more changes in the ever so strategic field and you being wary of possible enemies (Unless your steam rolling already), this could be played into a numerable amount of ways where say if one does multiplayer, a defeated player can overtake a minor faction and use it's pros/cons to help other players, OR use that faction to eventually get back into the game some way or somehow. Because if there is one thing I hate in any strategic multiplayer game is when you die and you just kinda lost the game, and are stuck there waiting it out for others to finish playing, but instead wish you could help others or do something to prevent people from winning etc. Also! It could give leeway to eventually having Minor factions as empires playable from the get go and empires as factions smiley: biggrin! I got this idea after seeing a poll for a Community hero for a minor faction and thought this might tie in nicely with it smiley: smile

I've always liked the idea of the minor factions ruling the world, problem is to make this really work you'd have to regionalize minor factions a bit so they are all pretty much in the same place... plus you would have to add a slew of new mechanics and so on and so forth, the likes of which arent really in place right now... maybe some time down the line.

I don't see minors becoming major outside of how they are integrated into existing empires or their use by the Cultists. What I do see is more minor factions as offshoots of the major factions.

You currently have the Haunts with their link to the Broken Lords and the Dogreshi with their link to the Roving Clans.

It would be interesting (to me at least) to see more of that.

I totally figured it'd be way more down the line if anything. I honestly forgot some factions only appear in certain regions. Just would be nice to have something in place so players could still play in the same game without saying oh, I'll just exit out and join back but take a different empire. I get there needs to an apparent sense of loss, but also a way to still enjoy the game without having to break the full progress on one's efforts. I'll reference another game where this feels good in someway, Talisman: Digital Edition, yes there are various modes/ways to play. But I've always liked how if one player would die, they wouldn't be out of the game, but still kept on playing as a new character, a clean slate so you say. ^.^ As for the cultists, hmm. I see how it's only ones they convert, but you could also be in an area where Cultists have no control over? But that would also require for no empires to have control of an area I would wana say.
