Greetings ! smiley: biggrin

A long time I had abandonned that section of the forum, but I'd like to come back to something, a debate which never really ended, a debate which was barely answered.

Here is a little "refresh" : https://www.games2gether.com/endless-legend/forum/6-game-design/thread/3058-annoying-paradox (I had to read it again myself, was done during the Early Access period ^^)

Its all about Armor Visual changes/Army visual customization.

I (we) thought about some solutions to find something which would be between the "full armor visual RPG-like" and the "nonexistent visual changes (current game state) on units".

Solutions ? Here are the 3 best I can remember smiley: stickouttongue :

-customization/reskin pack DLCs for Factions : those who really want customization (a lot of people I guess) will buy those pack. They (Amplitude) already did it with the Vaulters (offered with Dungeon of the Endless), why not doing this for every factions ?

-Dawn of War 2-like customization : Allow player to recolor their units in-game

-Tier/Era visual changes : give the player a different model of the unit for each Tier of armour OR each new Era (and maybe even, give the player the choice between different skins)

So, I'm asking Amplitude, what's your plans about it ? Did you searched any solutions ? smiley: smile

And the others, what are your thoughts about it now, as the game is released ?

Hello.

I must say that the visual update of weapons on the 3D units have really impressed me the first time I played EL.

Having my blood-thirsty badass wear double-handed big titanium sword is just gorgeous. And as a good warmonger, I reaaaly want to see my war dog try their new adamantium-encrusted claws to something. (I was that afraid they became obsolete before I can try them, that I just pick a random faction and declare war. Yes, sometimes, the real resons of war must be keep secret ^^)

It add some feeling to the game, and "connection" to your fantasy-3D pixel units.

About armors visual changes, it would have be cool too, but I think the main job is done by these gorgeous weapons.

I think a "color option" of skins/armors/dress of the actual models it's a nice idea nowaday. In that case, you can have you "soldier 4" with titanium double-handed sword and blue dress and "soldier 5" with adamantium short sword/shield and red dress. (not necesserly related to titanium and adamantium armors, just a color picked up by the player for this unit modernization)

Would certainly be cool.

But you should shange this topic title, it was not very usefull to understand the point ^^

Ye, it was a temporary title, sadly I cant change the topic title ^^

You said it would be "cool", I think it would be AMAZING smiley: stickouttongue

I just hope you understand that my point is that there are no visual changes on your units during the whole game like there are in other games. For example, your marine will remain with the same model across the Eras and the Tiers, which is quite sad.

It is but wouldn't you rather the devs use more resources on new content rather than allocating some for art models?

Well, it depends. In my opinion, armor visual changes could be much better than some any additional content. It has already huge content, not sure you can add alot. (else than Naval Battles, Wonders and... policies maybe). WAnd well, im sure they could do a few skins for DLCs while not wasting much time.

Offcourse, may be different depending of the people, but I remember that in the debate many ofthe most active people on the forum were agreeing in that the hours we play this game should be rewarded by some great new models.

Just PM me the topic title and I can change it.

Done ! Thank you smiley: smile

Technically, the "adjust color of unit dress/armor as you want" (with 1 or maybe 2 chromatic bar for the player) is not as much time consumming for the devs than the "full 3D armors models".
