Hello, I've been thoroughly enjoying Endless Legend over the past month and thought I'd start a thread to discuss new features or concepts that people would like to see added to the game in future expansions or DLC's.



1. New faction units, I think my biggest disappointment with endless legend was when I discovered that each faction only has access to 3 units. Although minor factions and guardians go some way to spice things up I still feel like there is plenty of room for more faction specific units to be added especially in later eras. I'm sure Amplitude plans on adding new factions but personally I'd rather the existing factions get fleshed out fully before new ones are added.



2. Water mechanics expanded upon, I haven't much to say here as I'm sure this is already planned.



3. Orion style regions, by this I mean adding the option to world generation to have 1 or 2 super regions per map, far away from the players starting positions that contain an extra number of strategic/luxury resources and high number of anomalies perhaps with it's own guardian if you'll pardon the pun. The idea being to create a high value region that players will fight over. I've taken this idea from the game Masters of Orion where each map contained one mega planet that had a very dangerous enemy you had to defeat to take control of that planet.



Anyway these are just rough ideas, I'd be interested as to what other people would like to see added.

However the lack of each faction in one area of unit type was intentional so we can fill in whats missing with minor factions.



2. Water mechanics expanded upon, I haven't much to say here as I'm sure this is already planned. I really want this too. Difficulty is what happens to the ships when winter hits? Maybe a water based Major faction would work? Not sure I see that happening as it would be a major rules change.

This is sort of already in the game. On the game settings you can change the world type of "New World" which means that all major factions start on one continent. This continent only has tier one resources (Glasstel & Titanium). There is a second continent which no major factions start on. This continent has all tiers of resources. So it creates a rush to get over to the other continent and take it over first.



Anyway these are just rough ideas, I'd be interested as to what other people would like to see added.




I believe they are going to continue to develop Endless Legend, so hopefully we can get these additions!

I'm not suggesting that each faction needs to have 1 one of each unit type, I was thinking more along the lines of more specialist units, so maybe a Necrophage unit that gets stronger the more friendly units nearby, or a Wildwalker unit that can change into different animals during a battle but these are just examples.



I have given New World a try but felt like it never worked too well because it always seemed easier to rush opponents because of how close everyone starts, rather actually expand to the new continent.

I think there should be an official thread for suggestions. I´ll use this one for some. I think:



-Units shouldn´t be supposed to heal whenever they´ve engaged in battle, whether by their own will or engaged by enemy units. They shouldn´t be supposed to heal whenever they´ve moved outside friendly territory. Units in a region shouldn´t be able to heal if the region´s capital is under siege. Units shouldn´t be supposed to heal while performing or reinforcing a siege.



-Units on enemy´s territory should pay double maintenance. Units on neutral territory should pay 1.5x maintenance. Mercenaries should pay double every value.



-Privateers should have an option to reinforce other privateers through Dust.



-Units performing a siege should take damage every turn proportional to the size of the garrison, but not to the size of fortifications.



-Starting position bias.



-Colonized regions could provide the player with presets of units, using the factions´ firsts and adding little pieces of available equipment.



-Allow combat movement to a tile that´s occupied in the beginning of the turn, but which will be unoccupied by the time the units acts.



-Introduce an Infantry unit type/Weapon type with melee zone of attrition. Introduce a Ranged unit type/Weapon type with anti-flying zone of attrition.



-Allow ranged units to automatically deal damage when engaging embarked units.



-Make Force Truce even more expensive. Account to the fact Drakken can get 4x the influence everyone else does from turn 1.



I´ll probably be back with more.



edit: -Make a retreating army take damage proportional to the difference between the total amount of movement points(for each and every unit, added) left in both armies, as well as an extra damage for overwhelming, say, when one side has 3 or 4 times the amount of combined damage, or something else.



-I´m not sure about this one, I might just be annoyed, but I think it could be a good idea if the game did not overlap uncontrollable penalties like reduced production from forests and 50% extra costs on strategic resources. I mean, why? These new events punish tall and wide completely differently, and tall suffers more once again.



-There should be a clear and rigid rule for which unit takes initiative when values are tied (or something could tell the player if there is one); and maybe more importantly, the order listed when you´re deploying commands should remain the same when the commands are executed.



-Minor Faction quests that ask you to destroy a settlement which you later pacify should all be automatically cancelled when you do.
