This may be a bit of a strange request. I tend to play 4x games with more or less the same group of 5-6 people, depending on who is around at any given time, and I expect that many people who play MP are in a similar situation. What I'd like is an option in the lobby to not only randomize factions (which is already available) but also randomize colors and obfuscate player names (replace them with emperor/leader/faction name) such that in game, it might not be immediately obvious who is who, which drastically changes how I play based on what I know about the other players. I understand this might not be feasible to add at this point in EL, but it's something I'd be interested in seeing in future titles, as well.

That's another really cool idea that sounds like a lot of fun. It would be a very different game, but it still sounds really fun.

That's a pretty cool idea, although I can already say that it's way too late into EL's development cycle to be even considered, but I can see if the ES2 team is interested.

Just to reiterate: I had the opportunity of discussing this suggestion with the ES2 team, and people liked it. Not something that could necessarily be added for release, but we like it!

Not to super-necro-bump or anything, (sorry!) but I just remembered this from ages ago, thought I'd drop in and see if this was still something that might be considered.
