I only realised late in the game, so the save is near the end of the game. Hope it helps. I'll try to reproduce it on a new Sophons game to give you an earlier save.


EDIT: I did not reproduce the bug on my second playtrough. The quest went to the next chapter.

Acceptable water planets are of Ocean, Toxic and Atoll planet types


This quest progress or autocomplete alone.

With version 1.5.8, the validation of colonization seems erratic.

With version 1.5.9, seems to be fixed!?


Note that it also works on Ice planet !

Quest text and tooltips forgot to mention ice.

In this attachement:

  • You can colonize Ingris IV (Ice planet): it completes the quest succesfully (with 1.5.9 - not with 1.5.8)
  • You can also colonize any Ybela planets (Ocean planets): he also completes the quest successfully
  • You can wait 2 turns without doing anything and this also ends the quest successfully ...  but why ???

In my game, I had this competitive quest pop up encouraging everyone to colonise the Hir system. However, that system had been previously colonised by the Cravers (purple empire) and later obliterated by the Horatio (red empire).



The very next turn after this quest was issued, it popped up again saying I'd failed and another empire had colonised Hir first:

After destroying second planet no notification about completing quest and rewards appears. No other actions can be performed - I can't finish turn, manage building queues or change anything else. After restarting game and loading save and then destoy the same planet again game start to react on changing buildning queues and everything else. If I finish turn resourses and all the changes during last turn applying but new turn is not starting and next faction quest don't appear. Checked that 3 times in 3 different scenarios with and without Supremacy and small DLC's and fixing game files via Steam. This one is my last try right before destroying second hot planet vod3-4.sav Can't save game after completing quest.

With the Awakening DLC installed completing this quest is impossible, as it requires you to capture the system of the Academy. However, as the Vodyani it is impossible to capture the system, and the game prevents you from razing the system, thus you are unable to complete this quest.

Anyone know if there's been any progress in the last couple prepatches these last couple months regarding this quest?

It should be fixed as of 1.5.10, though the fix unfortunately caused some serious problems we only managed to fix in 1.5.11. The Vodyani quest should be playable now.

Chapter 1. Beachhead - Part 2


Description

Game may spin forever when advancing to the next turn if you decolonize. I've noticed that this quest is worded "colonize a new system and raise its science.." but you have to raise the science of the very next system you colonize - which is buggy, but there's more. In my game, this next system was a forward expand that I decided to abandon. After decolonizing and ending my turn, the "ending turn" spinner spun forever. The UI is still responsive and I can move between different status screens, etc.

Description

Quest demands having a level 3 Home System. But it counts 1/3 to quest progress when a level 3 on the Home System is achieved. Quest is impossible to complete for an Umbral Choir based faction (since they can not have more than one system). I am playing as a custom faction based on Umbral Choir (In The Shadows affinity).

Any Good Lair Has a Back Door


Description

I had non aggression pact with pirates before that quest. After all lairs have been destroyed the quest started and i was not able to attack pirate fleet because its considered as friendly. I couldn't negotiate with pirates because there was no option in the diplomacy menu. I'm stuck with this quest and I can't get it done. Please fix this...

The Smoking Gun - Part 2

(after choosing to execute the spies in part 1)


Description

This event claims to give +20 approval on empire, but as far as I can tell it doesn't do anything.  It isn't listed as an approval modifier in any systems I can find, and nothing much seems to happen when the effect wears off.  (See attached save with 1 turn left on duration.  Important Note: Horatio luxury boost also wears off, which has a big effect on approval, but if you restart the luxury boost then approval looks pretty similar to the previous turn, rather than having the dramatic drop one would expect from losing a +20 boost.)


I notice that the effect description differs from some other events that say something like "+X approval on systems in empire", and considered that maybe it's meant to only apply to overall empire approval and not any individual systems, but I don't think it's applying there, either.  I didn't do all the math, but overall empire approval looks about like I would expect from a weighted average of individual systems without a big +20 boost, and again, empire approval doesn't seem to change noticeably on the turn the event wears off (if the luxury boost is restarted).

Chapter 3 - SuperSquared complete. Quest gives law +100% to science on cold planets. The law just isn't on the list. 


The most interesting thing is that if you download a very old save of another game where the law is included in the Empire - and cancel the law. On the next turn, you still can not turn it on, because it disappears even in the save from the old patch.



 


 

On version 1.4.21  it works without this bug. On preview the patch, this bug is still there.

Chapter 1 Beachhead, Part 2


Description

I have raised several systems to needed Science and nothing happened.  Some had been in process of being converted from Outpost to Colony at time of quest start, but others since have been settled from start to finish without effect (although perhaps not in this save file, as I tested it by clicking End Turn many times and can't remember whether this file was before or after that).
