Hiyas!

We decided to always keep the quest marker of the active quests on the map. This choice was motivated by the fact that is really annoying to pass through a quest node with the full conditions completed but forget there is actually a quest on it.

In addition, there is a difference between a pinned quest marker and the others.

But, we could add an option “hide quest markers” for the players who don’t want to play with quests.

A quickly togglable in-game option to hide the marker would be ideal. Remember, it's not probably that I don't want to play with quests - it's more likely that I don't want to deal with *that quest* for *right now* while I'm doing several other things, and having the pings for the 3-5 quests I'm not working on, or letting go for now, or can't finish, gets distracting. Especially since I have to go pin each quest in turn, then look at the map, then pin the next one, then look again, etc., to find out which ping belongs to which quest.

It might be best to have a "hide this quest ping" button on each individual quest's card, instead of a global "hide pings?" I feel like it would be more common to just be ignoring or back-burrnering one or two quests at any given moment, and want to keep the map screen clear. If we could toggle them individually then it would kind of be like a build queue where you have visibility of the next X quests you want or expect to complete.

Thanks!

Description

This is a collection of mistakes and faults that I have reported previously (and was told it would be looked at). The Vodyani questline focuses on the Tabernacle of Lies, the source of heresy and falsehoods in the eyes of the faithful Vodyani.

...

Hi SilentCynic -- I just wanted to check something. You've posted screens and commentary on the transition from Chapter 1 to Chapter 3 (without mentioning Chapter 2) of the Vodyani questline. Obviously if you were missing Chapter 2, the questline will make less sense. So, did Chapter 2, "Locus of Lies" trigger correctly?

Thanks,

SE

It did not. I just had the same thing happen. In sequence:

Objective: Scan the quest marker with a hero of level >= 5 to study the "Tabernacle of Lies."

Action: Brought level 5 hero, scanned marker.

Result: Turn-in quest text appeared of "I hope this turns out to be the lies we expect, rather than deeper disturbing truths" (sorry, I dismissed the panels already not realizing this would happen, this is from memory).

Quest ended, reward acheieved.

Next event: immediate pop-up of "Chapter 3 - Church and Senate Part 1," talking about how my whole life is a lie and our faith is in ruins and we need to find a new path and the crusty old Conservative senators will be no help.

Spoilers dude! xD

So yes, I'd say there's clearly a chunk missing where the Tabernacle is supposed to be actually studied, and the results are never presented to the player. The implication is clear, but it's an abrupt jump without the actual event happening.

TL;DR I'm afraid there'a a bad butt-splice from Chapter 1 to Chapter 3. Chapter 2 never existed for me.

I also have to agree with SilentCynic: the quest objective now is to remove the Church from power and abolish Religious laws. The reward is a suit that lets the Church mind-control the population. I don't get it.

Here's exactly what I see: I choose to explore the Tabernacle system with a Level 5 hero. When I get there and perform the scan, I see this:

As soon as I click close, before I can do anything else and with no delay, this immediately then pops up:

so it looks like there is indeed some kind of short-circuit where the entirety of Chapter 2 is skipped.

The first one I can recall easiest is the initial "find the Academy" quest. The three "it's in there somewhere" map pings never go away, for the entire game. Even when the Academy is found - even when I'm the one who found it - the three "look in these systems for the Academy" map pings never. Stop. Pinging.

It has been fixed, so it is supposed to stop pinging. Same for Sykagoja planet^^. Those fixes should be available soon.

This is still an issue for the three Academy pings, in the current Steam version, 1.0.18, as of a couple hours ago: Academy is both located and visited, but the three map pings are still eternally pinging, even several turns later. This is on a new game started clean under the newest version: 1.0.18 S5-GOLD Public. I'm not sure about Sykagoja, it may be fixed, but the Academy definitely isn't, I'm afraid.

Horatio Faction Quest: Chapter 3 Part 1/Part 2

Description

After completing Chapter 3 Part 1, no additional Faction Quest chapters have occurred. This was completed many turns ago, and still nothing.

I think I've heard others say Faction Quests sometimes have bugs and don't trigger, but this is the first time it has happened to me, as I have been able to fully complete the Faction Quests I've played in my previous games. This is the first time I've played as Horatio, so don't know if this bug is specific to that faction or not.

I don't have any screenshots (and I guess that's not really relevant here), but can attach my save files if that's helpful.

Preserve the Academy was under "Failed" (gave me 0 turns) playing as Vodyani

the other - Ghosts and Dust - was under "Complete" (with 0 turns given as well) playing as Vodyani

and I do not have the tech for Trade Companies researched.

Hey! I think that individual “hidden” options would be the best (even if I personally think that could be annoying if you have a lot of active quests.)

About Vodyani’s main quest, I sent your information to our writers but it is the expected succession of objectives.

That’s really annoying. Was the quest ended? Or do you have a save (which would be really helpful). Notice that, even if you find the 2 “other” systems, they will continue to blink until someone finally find the Academy System.

Fuzzball_7: Thanks for reporting this. I can’t reproduce but I might have found the reason why you didn’t receive the next chapter. Because I’m not perfectly sure of that, I sent my fix and your report to our QA testers.

This objective doesn’t target your Empire (even if it is quite disturbing xD). The “rebels” are in fact a Quest fleet.

Plus, did you get 0 turns from the beginning ?

Hum…. I think I know why you succeeded “by default”. But could you send us a save ? I think it’s because no players unlocked this technology…. :/ But I would like to check if it is the reason before modifying the quest. :)

Yes, on both quests, they said "in 0 turns" when the event window popped up.

And, the other quest, yes, I won by default in a major way... Easiest quest yet, lol!

I was playing a new game on v.1.0.20 as Horatio.

I got a quest: "One Million ?????" which I can't do better naming because.. I can't load my save or any autosave games (just hangs..)

Anyway, the 3 options all had "?" for rewards, one of which was getting my Influence up by just a few points so I chose that as a reward because it was easy.

In fact, I did it next turn and received "Agri-Drives" as a reward.

My question is: I couldn't see anything but a "?" for each of the 3 choices.

In other words, the reward for all 3 options showed as "?", like it was a mystery or hidden.

Is this *supposed* to be a mystery, like the 1-millionth customer surprise type of thing?

Or is it a bug?

Hello Morlox and MidnightSun!

Thanks a lot for your saves. I’ll check them this morning.

While I’m launching the game, I’ll answer your last post, Morlox.

Morlox761095 wrote:

This question mark appears if the rewards are evaluated at the end of the quest. Here, the reward unlocks a technology that you could unlock yourself through the Tech Tree. So in order to not give you a technology you already have (or you will get before the quest succeeds), we select the reward when you complete the quest. That’s why there is only a question mark.

We will try to make it so that you get a hint about this reward instead of the question mark. Like “Technology Unlock” or “Star System Improvement Unlock” etc.

Yes, something along those lines would be good.

I see, now, what you are saying: I happened to pick the one that gave me a tech. The other 2 could've been, say, a building, or a module, etc.

This can be seen in other faction quests I have been given where you see what you will be getting when given a choice.

I recall some quests offered a tech, a culture improvement building, or a module, etc. I believe the Riftborn have quests like this as they get can get a unique special architecture building for culture, or a tech, or some other improvement, etc.

I remember seeing and doing that quest in fact.

Here, it's just "?" "?" or "?"

with no way of really choosing because there's no difference up front like the way the Riftborn quest was made. It told you, up front, what you would get for each of 3 choices.

That's why this particular quest freaked me out a little.. Seemed strange.

The descriptive text of the Vodyani's message to you cuts off after the first two words; 'Benevolent Leader'. It's obvious that there should be something more there, but something in the game's files has either been screwed up or not finished. When I first saw the quest, I was really looking forward to gaining some more insight into how the Vodyani work on a social level. My main faction has been Vodyani since I got the game in September of 2016; I've always loved their aesthetic, their gameplay, and the flavour they add to Endless Space 2, so this little detail is giving me something of an itch.

There is something wrong with a lot of the quests when playing as Horatio.

I just received "The Living Plague" and the choices are "?" for rewards.

This also happens with other quests when playing as the Horatio.

I haven't seen this using other factions.

I know I have gotten this quest before when playing as other factions and the 2 choices have the rewards clearly listed out.

Here, and with other Horatio quests, often the choices for rewards show as only "?" so you have no way of choosing what outcome you would like as all choices show "?"

The same thing happened with a "One Million..." something Horatio quest. Don't know the exact name because that was a save game from the old build which can't be loaded.

I can only assume there is a lot wrong with the quests for the Horatio at this point.

EDIT: Looked a few posts above this and see my earlier post and the reply.

If the reward is assigned at completion and is tech, it should state something to that effect, i.e. "Tech awarded" and not "?".

At least I would think so..

On the plus side, my game loaded using 1.0.25.

The second step of the Riftborn faction quest can can break if you are playing a custom, shipbound faction.  The option to recruit Anax-Jink requires the player to colonize a system and raise its science output to 60.  The quest does not recognize anchoring an ark as colonization, so if that option was chosen for the quest, it becomes impossible to complete.

Yes, you’re right :) I’m replacing most of the “?” (Especially for the Major Factions’ quests) by “Random Technology”.

I hope those changes will be available in next update :)

If you have a save I can check if there is a bug blocking this quest.

But this quest is supposed to be “rare.” It’s possible that this quest is not triggered for a session. J Because of its difficulty, it is triggered from turn 60 (normal speed). So, if you and AI Empires have already found all the Neutron Stars, the quest will not be triggered.

Chapter 1. Beachhead - Part 2

Description

I can't get this quest to trigger completion for getting Anax-Jink either.  I've gotten a couple new systems past 60 science.  The first had been begun colonization, but was not a system yet.  That didn't work so I started a completely new system.  Once it was settled, I added a hero to pump it past 60 science with no success, then built improvements to get that portion of science past 60.  Do you need just science from population and not buildings or heroes to be past 60 or something?

I've got to say, I've had so many problems with quests around Anax-Jinx through multiple playthroughs.  Maybe he should just be dropped and put some other rewards in for the Riftborn instead.  Halting the Riftborn questline just kills the game for them and we're way past release by now.

EDIT

Yep, the quest didn't trigger completion until I had 60 science from planets.  Something needs an update then as the quest says over 60 science on a new system.

I can’t change this objective before Fighters and Bombers update (it’s too short for translating the objective), but I will do it for the next update. Because it works (even if it is difficult to fill) we decide to keep it for the moment.

It seems there is an issue with the Vodyani’s quest resolution. I think there is a code issue. They don’t brainwash Minor Faction if they assist them. We’re working on it.
