Unable to perform any action

Version: 1.5.10


When I load the save game, after a few seconds I become unable to perform any sort of action (queue construction, move ships, etc...). I have tried restarting the game but it does not help.

Did the game start on 1.5.10 or an earlier version?

I believe I started it some time yesterday, which was after 1.5.10 released, but I'm not sure. Does this usually happen during a version upgrade?


Also the weird thing is that I have a few seconds when I can move fleets and try to build things, but that stops working shortly afterwards. I suspect there is some event happening in the background or some AI action that is obstructing everything.

 I looked at your save. Indeed nothing worked. 


As i wanted to 


move all fleets =>nothing moved. 


to abolish a law =>wasn't possible.


Move ship => doesn't move


End turn = stuck on pending.

I believe there are multiple errors in this diagnostics:


1) Star system Phad of empire 26 is corrupted 

2) Could not retrieve entity (IHackingOperationTarget) #28693 

3) AI] Could not retrieve the EntitySnapshot 0 [AI0]

4) AI] Failed to process order message with status [PreprocessHasFailed] for GameClient/OrderStartHackingOperation [AI0] 

5) he order processing has raised an exception. Exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at ScanNodeLabel.get_IsImportant () etcetcetc




The third one occurs multiple times


My guess would be a hacking fault.

So the save is corrupted? Could you elaborate on what you mean by hacking fault?


I have been trying to get the "Shared Vision" achievement, and I would really not like to restart if possible. :(

I believe the save works fine, seeing that i could save the file. And as you said firstly something works, but later on, nothing works anymore.

As you said, something must be at play on the background. 


As you can see in the diagnostics, a lot of errors are located around hacking. 


But as a Noob first class i have no idea why or how this occurs. We need a Dev to look at it with debug options.

Oh, the thread you linked seemed to have the exact same problem as me. So saving and reloading (or loading a prior turn) fixes the issue? I'll try it later. Thanks for giving me some hope for salvaging my game! I really hope they figure out the bug and fix it soon, though.

I understand completely. Especially when you're that late in game, and suddenly you did all the work for nothing it seems.


I once had this issue, and when i loaded a save prior, i could not end the game although i did have some winning conditions:

Seems like everyone is posting the bugs, yet few have any solutions so far.


There are 3 BETA patches (2 old and one preview) up on steam, would THAT help if I loaded one...once again little to ZERO information from anyone here...so let's change that DEVs...also playing on FAST would most likely get you over the bug even though it's a limiting way to workaround it obviously.

I think the solution lies in another patch. 


The old betas are obsolete, The new beta patch i don't think is updated after patch 1.5.10, but you could always try. 

I think a new beta is always announced on this forum. Just like the new patches.

Seeing as there are next to zero suggestions from anyone on what to do about this for the most part, I was thinking maybe working with such brainstorming concepts could be good for co-operation.


So there are two old versions, they must work in some way...I suppose that the patches of the last month or two were the ones that caused some of this complex title to choke in it's code.  Playtesters on this issue would be good.  I have many decades in gaming, perhaps my skill could narrow this down a little faster.  This would be a benefit to me, and anyone else who enjoys playing this title I am fairly sure!

could you answer me a basic about how many playthoughs on avg. this game breaking bug even snags...does anyone have a good concept of this they could share with me, any extra information that is good will be appreciated.  Thank you!

In over 1300 hours that I've played ES2 i encountered it once, maybe twice but fixed it by restarting the game. Some people are not as lucky.

It's not that it's not fixed, it is reintroduced after big content updates.

The reason for old patches is if the new patches gives game breaking bugs f.e. you can go back to earlier versions.

Patches didn't cause any EXTRA problems. The problems came via the new DLC. They adressed some issues, though not 100%. 

Stick with the forums, if you want an update on the following patches.

I had it once or twice, on version 1.5.8. since 1.5.10 i haven't had game breaking bugs except for 1 in 20 games (huge galaxy)

Sure the usual irritation about typos and little buggies still exist (f.e. Riftborn can't speed up colonisation)

But those are not game breaking.

We're looking into the issue. Not all of them have the same source, but the most common culprit seems to be a problem in the quest system, specifically related to the Vodyani main quest.

We are already examining a fix internally. Until we are ready to roll out that fix,  I would recommend making sure you do not put Vodyani in your game to avoid this particular source of the problem.


UPDATE: We have made version 1.5.11 available on the PatchPreview until we release it officially.

as all of my last 4 games got stuck at a certain point, finally i came here ^^ 


tried all other things mentioned before or things you can google :S (it even gets stuck on trying saving on bugged turn -.-)


its more than 1k turns with a bugging rate of 100% and game ending rate of 0% ...

i hope there is coming up a solution FAST... atm for me not worth spending time on that amazing game ;(

i gets stuck on 174... i restarted playing on autosave 173 172 171 170 .... all ending in bugging in 174 :D

(even i tried doing diffent things playing the turns)
