+1 to this - no one should ever be permanently locked out of being able to obtain all the content for any particular game, at least in my opinion. Doing so just creates division and resentment within the community.

Ah - I was more thinking of games where a piece of content is only available for people who pre-ordered/joined in early access and is never made generally available later on, or is available for a limited time only. It is thankfully rare but it does happen. A system where you unlock content by purchasing a different game is fair though. Sorry - I probably wasn't clear enough.

To be fair, no one is permanently locked out in such a system. Borderlands gives more things for each game in the series you own. If you want one of those bonuses, you just pick up one of the other games, and it unlocks just fine. I could understand that hesitancy if it was an "own all these things prior to the game's release" deal, but I don't think I've ever seen that.



Understand, I don't care if people eventually get that stuff either way, but it's a nice push from Amplitude to maybe check out their other stuff without being obnoxious about it.

That's a different matter altogether... If I remember correctly we're not too keen on making these separable, exactly for the "does not match" issue you point out. I'll see if this is still our view on the matter.

The way I understand him, I don't think Sinnaj63 is asking for additional art and ship models, but rather for the separation of the ship-model selection and the artwork, similar to the way the Affinity and AffinityMapping where eventually separated in Endless Space 1, so you could play Cravers with Pilgrim ship models or something like that, he'd like separate art, so that now the Cravers with Pilgrim ship models can look like Hissho in the diplomacy screen. (Of course, artwork of the main quest would likely not match.)

Ship models (and art in general) is only some of the most time-consuming stuff to create and implement in the game... not sure your suggestion will find much support around these parts.

Speaking of Cosmetic Options I feel like those should be more advanced when creating custom factions. You should be able to mix and match ship models, artwork and diplomacy models. And I feel like there should maybe be some generic ones unused in any normal faction for custom factions.

Keldron Bor as a hero again perhaps? Quite a few people have been asking for more Broken Lords lore/content recently.

Isn't that the painful truth though? Some times that ire is earned (Really EA? My singleplayer RPG had to be always-on for enhancement purposes?), but a lot of the time people complain just for the sake of complaining.



Just to throw my own hat in to the ring here, even if it is too early: I'd love to see some small thing (A hero, minor faction, quest, etc) for players who owned either ES or any/all Amplitude game(s) would be nice, but I won't feel betrayed if that doesn't happen. =P

People will complain either way. Give a bonus, people will complain that it is OP, that it is only cosmetic, that everyone has access, that no one has access. Don't give a bonus, the devs don't care about the community etc.
