Seeing some Youtube LP videos I noticed that certain unclaimed stars appear to have a Dyson's sphere/ring/whatever around them, but there is no mention about it in their description. 

Is this normal? Is this a visual glitch due to the pre-release version? Is there a technology that unlocks them later on?

I believe you might be talking about the new "System under siege" animation?

From Arumba's LP I also saw this star:

It is not a Dyson's sphere though but a constructed sun instead.

Wow. This double video is so cool. Thanks a lot! So, it seems that Sophons evolved into bionics and that makes sense. 

But what about Hissho, Haroshem and Mavros?

These artworks are so good I must ask the devs: are you guys planning on releasing an artbook? If so, I'd gladly buy one! :D

I know that they will be releasing one for Endless Legend at some point, it was voted for in a G2G vote. As for ES2 I can only assume they will do the same.

I'm so excited to see this game when its finished, like its still only early access and I love it, especially when i finally git gud and the Great and Mighty Purple blob took...I mean bought the entire galaxy, there was no war with the Sophons, the Sophons are just lying, the purple blob is peaceful and would never intentionally attack others because they sent a colony ship towards the uninhabited system next to our glorious homeworld.

Sometimes lucky. But AI will getting much better later on so now its time to win later I see it will not happen  :)
