I don't think it's a good idea for Amplitude. Most people will call them lazy and greedy people for releasing a non-complete game, and they will be blame again for chosing SEGA.

I would love to see those ships as different ones, of course, but it would be a nice touch if they were added bit by bit for special occasions (like the Endless Day, the celebration of an exceptional sale for ES2...).

Speaking of Auriga, it is also classified as a Unique Planet. I'm not sure exactly what that means in ES2. Is it a Special Anomaly?

For the best

Very cool thoughts here, I like this kind of speculations

I suspect Auriga would have been an ice planet in ES1 as well if that type had existed. Since it didn't, they used Barren instead.

Allow me to disagree:

This much, at least, is clear: The Pearls are for us, meant to save us from whatever fate awaits Her. She would save Her children, Her Chosen, from the long winter that comes.

It has happened before -- the Long Sleep, the long Dark Season and at the end Auriga rises anew. This is the best we can hope for; that we can bring Her to a state where She can sleep the sleep of restoration and flower again

If we can achieve that, i will have hope for the Allayi and for Mother Auriga. Our role is to accompany, not save; we must ease her into her rest, not fight to delay it. If we can reign supreme on Auriga, we can see to it that she goes gently into that Long Sleep.

This gives me a strong impression, that Winter that comes is just so long and harsh, that none of the living current generation will survive or see the end of it, so it might be perceived as planet's death (it's technically might be it). But this doesn't exclude a possibility, that this Winter isn't permanent.  If it's indeed due to planet's unstable orbit, it might return to habitable zone after many-many years.

In ES1 we might catch Auriga in the midst of "Long Sleep" phase, when atmosphere is almost gone (frozen or blown away). But she can be terraformed/restorred, and there's even global notification of such an event.

As I'm sure there will be DLCs (yes suspect more than one if game sells as expected), they can simply put  1- 2 more families of ships for minor faction in each DLC, giving them time to make it and adding cool aesthetics to DLCs as a plus.

I'm not against DLC like that, but I sure hope they won't go for a pricing policy similar to Paradox' "Plantoids" pack.

Probably not, after all Echoes of Auriga was decently priced.

Speaking of Auriga, why is it an Ice world in ES2? I saw it in a gameplay video.

Well, the lore of Endless Legend is quite clear about Auriga dying a cold, icy death.

Not sure about pricing. I was thinking they can include it in DLCs with other content most people will buy anyway without this improvements.

I thought they're going to use unique to their faction design, just like units in EL. But judging from new videos, all pirate fleets share same look, just as in ES1.

While a DLC that gives all the minor factions unique ship designs is something I'd be interested in too I think I'd rather see DLC that upgrades any ES1 facions that aren't playable in the base game into major factions first.

I'm a little confused. As I understand it, is it that each minor faction has a single visually unique ship that corresponds with a particular class of ship? Or are they going to share a visual between ideology (i.e. all Science focused minor factions have the same visual style) Based off the of the videos thus far, the art style being used by all of the minor faction ships seem to belong most to the Epistis...

Every minor faction will pull ship designs from a common pool that contains around 4 families of ships. Each family has 2-3 ship classes. They haven't finished them all yet so I guess they just used the technologists ship style for the moment.

The Hissho using generic ships will be a bit strange.

I know... considering they had such cool ship designs in ES1.
