Genius! I can't get this out of my head now! A simple logic but soooo brilliant!

Thanks, im flattered :)

Well, what else should we expect from a Sophon.

I see what you did there.

Or what if they really have tiny eyes and the eys of the helmet are just computer screens. Filled with all the techno babble they need.

Yes! And the 'blinking' could be the computer screens recalibrating!

I don't think they would need calibration, theyr computers's and screen's  are probably to fast to create a noticeable flicker.
Even our human tech isn't that slow.

Hey that's a bit like my interprétation of Unfallen eye gear (small primitive eyes enhanced by big cameras)

I wonder if we'll see any Sophon without this full helmet. I think it's a running gag among Amplitude.

Oh you have some others, like, with eyes this gigantic, there must'nt be much space left into their heads (not considering the raw size of the visual cortex), so as genius, are Sophons brains somewhere in their torso or belly ? :D

Yeah I know it's a silly question.

I was reading heroes bios on the wiki, and admiring the amount of work on their portraits and animation.

Then I noticed that there were two competing designs for their eyes :

The first one features blinks and grooves, and it always greenish. It is more opaque.

The second one doesn't blinks, it is either green or blue, and can mirror light. There are no grooves.

I'm not a specialist of the lore, but I always thought that Sophons used suits, and as we can see on this picture they can have various designs :

But blinking through your suit ? That's really strange. Do they have some sort of symbiotic relation with it ? Do you think the Sophons might be cyborgs ?

I think blinking in a helmet is silly.Like GC3's Yor having eyebrows. It's purely a visual thing to get emotion.

Now that it is brought up here Sophon society sounds really interesting. Like do they replace the eye pieces of their suits when there's so many scratches and microfractures that visibility becomes impaired?

Actually makes the most sense. They wear those suits so often, they would need something to clean it when the lenses get smudges. I was also thinking that maybe the lenses work best when slightly dampened, like actual eyes.

That's a great combo of ideas. It may even explain why some blink while others don't (they are simply different models that work differently).

I have difficulty telling where the Sophon flesh and suit start and end myself.

However, for a civilisation so advanced, and so focused on technological progress above all else, it wouldn't be that much of a stretch if their bodies are technorganic.

Maybe because helm covers their faces, this augmented "blinking" might replace facial expressions to a certain degree.
