For me it would be UE. I personally dislike Vaulters, though I'm fully aware that I'm in a minority haha. UE is far more interesting to me. Sure, the basic idea is quite generic but mixing a greedy corporation with power-hungry empire is always a fun mix, at least in my eyes. It also leaves lots of room for various gameplay elements, which is more than what you can say about the Vaulters imo.

EDIT: Also, UE is more evil than Vaulters and I'm an evil player, sooo...

He brings up a good point. Why is there no Horation option? Is it because they are the obvious choice?

You would be better off under a powerful rich empire like the UE rather that a small hippy one or another stuck on an awful planet.

Oh, woops.

In that case, they all seem pretty awful. Vaulters and Pilgrims have no real home, pretty much cooped up in their space ship, moving from place to place. United Empire is an oppressive regime, it even says so on the box. They take the worst aspects of socialism and capitalism and mixes them together. Being part of the Sheredyn is being part of a strict militaristic sub-faction of said oppressive regime. None of these places seem like something that would be fun to visit, let alone be.

Oh come on, it's not that bad to be a Pilgrim. They seem like quiet, contemplative, peaceful humans who have good relations with xenos.

Which reminds me...why are they so obsessed with finding Torr (Endless Homeworld), it's a cataclysmic hellhole. Surely they would know that as the story was pretty much common knowledge among the Endless (even those born millennia after on different worlds). I find it highly unlikely that they didn't find any artefact or information that revealed this fact.

I do have a special place in my heart for Horatio, mainly because I find the concept so bizarre and it sounds like something you'd find in a Star Trek episode. Plus I really enjoyed their expansive style of play

I would like to see Horatio as a major faction. They could fill the ecologist spot (food and population), although they lore dosen´t have anything to do with ecology.

I like all five human races (4 + Horatio) in ES1, because all of them have some archaic elements in their styles. It reminds me about good old days with Dune and WH40K

So I will appreciate any human factions from ES1 in ES2, or even the mix of any factions.

Maybe EU (as Industrials) or Vaulters (as another Scientists) will be the best option.

At least someone who descends the style from EU or Vaulters, please

If you were to be a Human in Endless Space, which would you want to be?

For me, it's either Vaulter or Pilgrim, though I lean towards Vaulter.

I too hope the Vaulters are the human faction. It would also be an interesting opportutnity to carry on their lore and story from EL into the space age in ES2. It would be epic to play as Vaulters starting in EL and then continue on in ES2.

United Empire is nice and all but somehow I can't find immersive a situation where an "empire" is already "united" - which implies "big" and "multifaction" space society - and then still start an early colonization from a single planet like a fledgling, albeit advanced, civilization.

Plus, there is a note in the album of Dungeon of the Endless that describes the crew of the ship that leaves Mazen as "seed" of something far greater. I don't remember specific words but I remember it gave me the impression it would be something bigger than just a bunch of Vaulter cities on a dying planet in some deep ass of the galaxy.

Vaulters for me. They are fond of technology ( me ) they like to stay in their cities ( endless legend says that. I don't like moving much too) their ships look great and they are looking good in general. I do not really like the "space Vikings" idea. The do look similar , but for me they will always be scientists that enjoy mining.

Piligrims are also scientists , but they are explorers and go to the lab just to find out , what have they they just found.

I'm pretty sure United Empire will be the human faction in ES2.

Why do i believe it?

Watching the wiki, Sophons are the scientist faction , Cravers : militarist faction, Lumeris : pacifist faction, Vodyani : religious faction.

And the game need an ecologist and industrialist faction. UE should be the industrialist, better choice than Pilgrims, Vaulters and Sheredyn in the Endless Space lore.

Or the four hidden factions will be the same as the Early access factions and the game couldn't get ecologist and industrialist ways. So ... no UE needed.

it's just my point of view, just a suggestion.

Sorry for my poor english, i'm so bad and old to learn it better now.

The Sheredyn, for sure. If the United Empire was Henry VIII then the Sheredyn would be Cardinal Wolsey, the real alternative power behind the throne.

Pilgrims all the way. My favourite human faction in ES1 by far.

They had the best ship designs in the game, with the exception of the Sophons.
