Yea one of my possibilities. But in the into they crossed the breach and appeared as one of their ships, never seen going into a protective structure. Also don't remember devs saying this is a protective vest. so not sure about this point, but 50% you're right.

Narrator should be enclosed in that Dust crystal. Just think of it, Dungeon of the Endless journal is written by somebody, who observes every hero on its journey, and Dust crystal is the only thing that present through it all, regardless of hero line-up in each new game. Like every art or video where this Crystal pops-up scream: "Look! I'm here! I was here all the time, in front of you!"

Yeah, ever since announcement trailer the Grey Owl keeps popping up and it's getting rather weird....We see the explosion of what looks like a Hissho ship and the spreading of dust in the Announcement Trailer also given the Flight of the Grey Owl story we know for a fact that the Grey Owl was heading towards Auriga for repairs to it's ability to traverse WORMHOLES was somehow damaged....
Then we see SOMETHING like the explosion at the end of the Cravers trailer and some weird disturbances in other trailers (Both vision Trailers show Dust filtering down to the respective homeworlds of the Sophons and Vodyani with a very odd 'Flux' or nexus of Dust in the background which could be the epicenter.) The Narrator also mentions a plan being in place, the plan itself isn't discussed but seems to imply that seeing dust around the galaxy is a major part of it.
Now in the Riftborn video and in some text we learn that the Grey Owl was responsible for the Rift that opened up into the Riftborn's galaxy.

My theory is that whoever the Narrator is used the Grey Owl as a means of spreading Dust across the galaxy. The Grey Owl's FTL as it pertains to wormholes was damaged and it made a stop onto Auriga to make repairs...Auriga being a major Endless research nexus at the time, so maybe they got repairs done...But these repairs were instead a trap to advance some unknown plan? Maybe when the Owl tried to traverse a wormhole whatever was done to the Drives caused it to rip a series of wormholes across the galaxy all at the same time to spread dust around as widely as possible.  (Such a violent instantaneous event to open up a dozens if not hundreds of wormholes all across the galaxy from a single point could have feasibly been what lead to the Rift.) 

And explosion/rift is just confirmed to be caused by Grey Owl, or rather something (Dust crystal ?) on its board.

Wait, if the Cravers saw the explosion of the Grey Owl, then that means that they were a stone's throw away from Auriga.

This was some great sleuthing. If you watch the 'A New Beginning' trailer, you can definitely see the rift being formed, just before the huge dust explosion (compare the visuals to the Riftborn trailer - they are identical). That means the planet we see in the Riftborn trailer, is Auriga.

This leaves me with a couple of questions.

What the hell was on the Grey Owl  that caused the explosion of that magnitude? Was it put there deliberately? Was there a bigger plan here, or just all an accident?

Who is the narrator from the A New Beginning Trailer? My thought on this a long time ago was that it was one of the versions of Tarosh (who is definitely one of the most intriguing characters in the Endless universe, I hope to see and learn more about it in ES2), but now I think it lends credit to idea that the Riftborn might not have known about the Endless, but the Endless might have known about (and been around?) them. So maybe a Virtual that had been living in Riftborn space?

What is the blight, and where did it come from? Again, was this just some unfortunate fact about the interaction between real space and the Riftborn universe? Or something more sinister and deliberate?

Edit: Does anyone have a link to the 'enhanced reality' version of the A New Beginning trailer? Could be insightful.

1) Not sure. I know it's a Hissho ship... but my knowledge on it is limited at best.

2) We don't know. The Main Story quest will probably answer that. I hope...

3) We don't know for sure, although the fact that he has 4 eyes like the "demon" in the Vodyani prologue alludes to some sort of connection.

4) The blight could just be dark matter oozing into Coroz from the other universe, or it could be something more insidious and related to the cargo the Grey Owl held.

Just thinking about this: the rift that destroyed Riftborn universe is affecting someway Endless universe?

It's curious that an event of this magnitude only affected one side of the breach. May be Endless universe has effects that goes unnoticed? Or may be due to different time perception Endless universe life forms see these alterations as something normal??

Well the demons in Vodyani intro looks very different from Riftborn. They're 4-eyes beasts, not a mechanic-like pieces floating together.

As side note, not sure if Riftbon can be considered as mechanical entities like Sowers or Automatons, cause really nobody knows what structure has in their natural environment, and what's inside this machine-looking bodies. Not even sure if what we see is a Vodyani-like vest.
