Whilst fantasizing I was wondering which playable faction's civilization I would like to live in, but after considerate thought I concluded that they all lack moderation which could result the end of me. The civilization closest to some form of moderation to me seems the Vaulters. Yet even they dabble in mysterious forms of meta physics and runic powers which they can obsess over. Not to forget their seemingly Endless nomadic lifestyle.

I'm curious to know, which playable faction's civilization do you humans want to live in?

I suppose the hedonistic Lumeris would be my choice.
It all comes down to money in the end THE DUST!

Hmmm...

Horatio would just Horatio-fy me...or dissect me for gene splicing.  Not as much fun on the receiving end.

Cravers...yeah no.  That's not living, that's waiting to be butchered.

Sophons might be fun for all the smart tech but I'd get tired of constantly being belittled by their elitist intellects.

United Empire would try to draft me or dump me in the slums for labor.  No thanks.

Lumeris are just a mafia.  Rich scumbags who only care about getting richer.  Not my style.

The unfallen seem fairly hospitable, if a bit sluggish and sedentary (even for ME...)

Vodyani are religious nutbags who'd want to dust me.  Pass.

Riftborn are too...sterile.  Can't see us ever sharing the same environment, let alone understanding each other.

Hissho are cool with the honor and battle thing but I'd never make the cut.

The choir don't really count; they just possess you and that's that.

The Nakalim are...interesting and I'd be keen on meeting a planet-sized patron, but depending on it for all new ideas?  Nah.

Vaulters would be about my speed; scientific, empathetic, and more concerned about finding home, learning and thriving than conquering the galaxy.  The "nomadic space viking" theme's cool with me too.  I could use some travel in my life.

Welp, Vaulters it is.

Sophon are traditionally seen as scientists but they seem pretty adapatable they also seem tolerant. Plus they already have The Pilgrims living in their space meaning I'd have other human like fellows to socialise with.

As a fan of both the Sophons and the Pilgrims, and their rather democratic and progressive ideas, I think I'd feel the best in the Sophonity for sure. Lots of science, some scientific-based religion, might even get some tatoos. I'm all in on this.

Next would be the Vaulters. At tad too brooding and survival-focused for my taste, but travelling with space vikings also sounds fun, and they're a sturdy people.

Spending some time with the Nakalim or the Hissho sounds culturally enriching, but I don't think I'd want to live there in the long run.

You'd have to be insane not to choose the Vaulters, Sophons, or Unfallen.

But can I cheat and go with the Mezari ending for the Empire where Zelevas doesn't find out who betrayed him? :)

Wow I never realized how extreme the factions can get until you put it in this perspective hahah.

Sophons, Vaulters, Unfallen, and Nakalim are the only ones that I can envision myself not straight dying in.

Depending on your position in the Empire, you either get worked to death as a disposable part of their industry, or you get shot for having the wrong opinion. They're a textbook dystopia, which is a big no for me.

Probably the Umbral Choir so I can float but I would also like the Unfallen so I can make space vines but I would probably end up getting done to by the Horatio :(

Hissho could be livable. Maybe. And who doesn't want to be a gorgeous Horatio, right? But yeah, I don't think anything beyond the Sophons, Vaulters or Nakalim sounds good. Personally I'd love to go explore and do some science-mysticism with the Pilgrims so the Sophonity just makes sense. Also, people don't mention the Lumeris but I think their society is very human-like (a tad too much if  you ask me, they barely behave like aliens). So I'd expand the list to Sophons, Vaulters, Unfallen, Nakalim and Lumeris. Maaaaaybe Hissho and Pilgrims if they were a major faction.

I suppose the majority of Lumeris society is pretty normal, yeah. They tend to focus so much on the whole mafia wars thing that it's easy to forget they're not all that way.
