Module Slot List On Starting Vessels

I had posted this in game design, but as sum1 pointed out, it's more appropriate here.

I compiled this list of all the modules slots for each of the starting exploration, colonizer, and vodyani ships.  I'll try to compile a list of additional vessels in the future.  I couldn't find anything like this in the search function for G2G, so I apologize if this is duplicate.

Keep in mind, this is not the configuration of the starting vessels, just their potential.  Starting vessels are usually constructed with one slot empty, so upgrade those design templates if you want to take full advantage of their potential.

I'll also probably transfer this information into a spreadsheet as the info gets more comprehensive with additional hull types.

Key: ex= exploration vessel; col = colonizer; S/A/D order (Support/Attack/Defense); The number represents the hard-coded number of slots of each type for the ship, the number in parentheses means the design has one or more mixed slot, and could be filled with one of two, or three module types.  This value in parentheses reflects the potential maximum number of that module in the design.

Note that if the value is surrounded by parentheses without a number prior to it that means there are no hard-coded slots that fit only that module.  For example, the horatio colony ship has 3 slots that allow support modules, but none of those exclusively permit support mods.

              2(4)/ (1)/  (1)

I was compiling this list to support an argument for changing the module options for Sophon exploration ships, it seems to me that they should be afforded a 3rd slot for support (akin to riftborn and horatio).  They are scientifically-minded, after all.  It seems very inconsistent that they should have this limitation.  I think I understand the reasoning (with the boosted movement, having an additional support module means they can quite easily explore much more of the universe in shorter time -- either by adding faster engine, or by adding more probes.)  But, isn't that supposed to be their forte?

Update: Compiled the small vessel module slots available for each faction.  Same key as for original post.  One additional note:  some module slots allow all three module types, and for those I added 1 to each number inside the parentheses, to demarcate the maximum amount of that module allowed on the ship design.  This flexibility may suggest that some factions have way more slots available than others, but it may be a result of this free slot adding one to each type.

Also note:  The upgraded version of each support vessel unlocks additional slots, but many of the new ones (maybe all?) require hyperium to actually use, it's included in the constuction cost description on the left once the module you pick is placed in the slot.

Comparably, each attack vessel upgrade slot requires titanium.

This is something I hadn't noticed before, but which has obvious gameplay implications for deciding which hull to research the upgrade for.

Happy ship building to you!

Appeal: I could use some help for the Carrier class module slots! I've never actually unlocked one, playing mostly fast MP games these days.

Edit 4: Thanks in large part to Indrkl, we've almost finished the carrier data.

Below is the chart of carrier module slots.  Keep in mind that B represents the number of Attack slots outfitted with Mega-weapons on the carriers.   Note, there is a fee of adamantian and anti-matter used in construction of each carrier, while Orichalcix and Quadrinix are necessary to unlock various module slots unlocked with the upgrade.   As you can see we still need data for the Cravers, and The Unfallen.

These are great! Would love to see a chart for medium vessels and their upgrades. I always tend to lean towards upgrading attack ships, but it'd be interesting to compare them to their support counterparts. For instance,  with these I've learned that there is a big advantage to upgrading the Riftborn small support, I probably wouldn't have found that out for months on my own! (Creature of habit)

Glad you found it useful.  I was starting to wonder if anybody would.

Good news!  As soon as i progress far enough in my second ever Cravers play I'll be posting a full table of the medium-size vessels soon.  Possibly within a couple hours.

Update: got this new info posted, but obviously the formatting of the table is off.  will take the time tomorrow to repair it, hopefully.  I can't seem to be able to select each entire column, or it would have been a quick fix with 2 separate tables, one for each of the medium hull type.

Just realised I had no saves of late games except for Riftborn. Anyways, their grand ship has following stats where B means a big slot, which has 4 x more potency (in addition to the normal 4 x bonus of the grand ship).

Riftborn

Normal - S: 3, A: 3 + 1B, D: 4

Upgraded - S: 4, A: 5 + 2B, D: 5

Basically these ships are insanely beastly.

Awesome!  thanks for that! I should have added the Big slots for the medium class hulls, realized about halfway through.  uggh.  Well, at least its standard across all factions for upgraded medium vessels.

One more, completed a game with Empire, had insane luck with luxuries, got +10 influence and +10 science per pop at level 3 development lols... broken... then additional +10% per dev. level for level 4... won science victory at turn 110 smth.

Anyways, the big ship for humans is as follows:

Normal - S: 2(3), A:2(4) + 1B, D: 2(5)

Upgraded - S: 3(4), A: 3(6) + 2B, D: 2(6)

damn...you're putting me to shame.  I am just bug-hunting right now.  Maybe I'll play a full-game now.  I realized that a good way to do it is to start a protected MP game with the factions I need and play through for one faction and circling back to the AI factions once far enough along.  It's a bit tedious, not quite as fun, but efficient.  I'll take a try at finding out the Vodyani, Sophons, and Lumeris.  I think I have a well-progressed game I should be able to expedite toward carrier research.

That will leave cravers and horatio.

played another game today, with Horatio. Their big ship has following stats:

Normal - S: 1(6) A: 1(3) + 1B D: 1(6)

Upgraded - S: 1(8)  A: 2(5) + 2B D: 1(8)

Even if stats change, I guess we can draw that Horatio is gonna be kinda opposite of Riftborn, when it comes to flexibility :)

awesome! I got the three I said I would do...so I'll post the table as is.
