Yes, Umbral Choir are unaffected by Depleted planets. Concerning gameplay and balance this decision was made because they have fewer options to restore them than other factions (e.g. No Sowers on Umbral Systems), lore-wise it can probably be said they are unaffected by it because of their slightly detached relation to physical reality.

The same is true the other way around: Custom Umbral Choir with Extreme Foremen will not deplete planets, so they can't grief other empires.

Regarding Umbral Choir placing sanctuaries on obliterated systems: That is intended. The Umbral Choir have a technology to "Colonize Destroyed."

We are, but we're interested in any saves you have where the economy suddenly snowballed like this, so we can look into all contributing factors and see which need the nerf shovel.

Yes this is due to the diplomacy being worked on. We have the system in place for the AI to keep memory of past events (both bad and good), and we're currently working on the system to send feedback messages to players and alter the AI's diplomatic behaviour in consequence of player actions.

Eventually you abducting the AI's people will be seen as a very agressive move and it should let you know about it fairly bluntly :).

What was said is correct (yellow strategic resource is called Hyperium ;)), I will just add that strategic modules will eventually have specific additional effects that common ones (white ones) will never have; for example +10% critical hit chance, etc.

So even if an Era 2 common module has the same stats as an Era 1 strat module, you might still want to consider the strat module for its specific effects.

I will also add that we're progressively introducing a thematic for strategic resources ; one will unlock kinetic strategic weapons/defences (kinetic, missiles, hull plating) and the other energetic ones (laser, beam, shield).

For future reference:

System level is indicative of the "development" of your star system ("is it a basic colony or a mega center of activity?"). It affects FIDSI generation and unlocks population slots on planets mainly.

You can see it here:

And it's improved from the economy screen (coin icon in screencap above) ; be sure to select the correct tab on the top left:

Then you can click the system development slot that will be highlighted (in the above it has already been chosen) and choose a luxury resource to assign to it (in the example above: Redsang).

The FIDSI bonus given by the luxury resource will be applied to the system in which you construct the system development. It is constructed like a regular system improvement, from the usual list:

As you can see it will also cost you a certain amount of the luxury resource you selected for the system development.
