How to counter rapid expansion?

Hi,


 i know i can build hapiness :) buildings also research some disaproval countering science, but this is far not enough if i start conquering enemy territories.


 What am i missing?

You also have laws, 

Militarist laws are especially good when engaging in war with multiple empires, see:

Warmongers

Them or Us.

There's also the laws: toys for boys, Senator Bob etc.

If you tend to expand fast, you should use guardiens.

1. every guardien gives all of yous systems 5 aprovel and additional 5 aprovel for the system he lives in.

2. every planet with trees (terra, forest, boreal, toxic and maybe some more) has a guardien, so colonise them first.

3. you can sacrifice a guadien and gain 25 aprovel for 20 turns in all your systems. you will loose the 5 aprovel in the system he lived in but you wont loose the empirewide aprovel bonus. (but maybe this is not intended and the devs will change this)

4. every system with at least one guardien generates 20 influence. so you can easy obtain laws.


another thing is the religous political party. when they are leveled up (most of the time it takes 3 elections with a high vote for them) you  can use a law that sets all your systems to happy.
