The games soundtrack is great but like anything after a while it can become repetitive. By allowing players to add their own music into the game it would help avoid this.

My idea would be that there would be a folder named music(Documents\Endless Space 2\Music) that a player could drop their music into and then have it either automatically or manually(through the options menu) imported into the game.

Yeah that's what I was originally thinking, allowing players who have both the Endless Space and Endless Legend soundtracks to add them to the game. Not to mention all the other great music that could be played over the top. I know steam has a music player function that can be used but it is not synced with the game. For example when you enter a battle the music keeps playing and doesn't always play nice with sound effects etc.

Or just run mediaplayer. By the way Windows/Linux - multitasking operating systems. Optional ES soundtrack it's a good idea.

I understand the concept of multi tasking operating systems perfectly well and that is unrelated to my point. My point is that external music programs are not integrated with the game. Therefore their audio output often interferes with the games audio, playing over the top etc. My idea is that external audio files could be added to whatever data structure the game stores it's list of music in thus providing said integration.
