How about a ship module (maybe costs 1 Titanium and 1 Hyperium), that just adds a lot of probes?

Essentially, like the current Scanning modules, but instead of adding Vision range, they add even more Probes.  So, instead of adding +2 vision and +2 probes like the Standard Scanner does, maybe the Probe Bay would just give +3 or +4 Probes.  Would make it possible to design Survey ships for Expedition work, with (a) fewer modules total, and (b) without having to put a quarter of the map within scanning range JUST to do that survey work.  :)

An additional possibility is to buff probe recovery slightly - 25% faster, for example.

Would this be an 'additional' module, added to the list of possible modules to add?   If so, I like the idea.   A little more flexibility given to the player, according to their play style.

Why not all 3 as possible modules?

Scanning:  +2 Vision, +2 Probes

Probe bay:  +4 Probes

Probe Construction:  +25% recovery rate

With this, you could build a larger type of ship, and have all 3.   Would make for a doozy of an explorer!

Hmm; I'm not sure I would ever build a module that only increased probe regeneration, but that doesn't mean someone else wouldn't.  :)

I actually like this idea Edricbewley has, each one being an individual module. Probe recovery might be dirt cheap, and good for a sort of throw away, one and done, let's see how far I can get this fella to go sort of 'adventure'.  Also, some times, I really do want to explore all those anomalies, and I just end up having a fleet sort of sit there, and wait. And wait. And wait. Until it has probes. And then it moves to the next system, and has to wait, and wait... ad nauseam. It's very niche, but it's a niche that I think people will like being able to utilize.
