This is just a visual cue. it mostly helps newcomers, but could be a slight help to veterans as well.
It took me a while to figure out how to explore curiosities.
THe unknow icons pulsate, but at a fixed rate.
They should respond to player actions to telegraph that they are clickable.
When the player clicks on the "explore" button, all curiosity icons should pulsate one time, to indicate where they are and that they are the next logical step in planetary exploration.
Likewise, when the mouse is "looking for" a clickable curiosity, after clicking in the explore button, mousing over a curiosity should make it pulsate stronger to telegraph the player: "if you click here your exploration party will do its magic".
For veterans it won't matter as much, but it's still a nice refinement to the UI.
For newcomers, it would help them understanding the exploration mechanics without saying a word.
