Option for no minor factions in the Home System.

How about we had the option to start a game with no minor factions in the home system?

There are some of us that like a purist start.

This could be an option in the galaxy generation menu.

Just my 2

EDIT:

I will also like to add:

1. To be able to choose which minor faction will start with me in the Galaxy setup. This adds even more variety.

2. If a minor faction is to start in my home system, they should not be placed in the same planet as my faction, but rather in their own biome, unless these are the same.

For example, if I'm to start with the Deuyivans, they should occupy one of the available Gas Giants not be on my planet.

Hey there,

Thank you for your submission!

Since it was also mentionned in this thread: https://www.games2gether.com/endless-space-2/forum/66-game-design/thread/22192-let-s-talk-about-game-options (if you have other ideas for options, don't hesitate to post there)

I've added it to a list of options to be reviewed by the rest of the team :)

Once it has been reviewed, the status of this idea will be changed accordingly

Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply!

In fact there is another idea that I posted which has partially to do with game options.

Give me your thoughts. :)

Hi!

For me the main issue is not a political pluralism at the start, but unclarity of lore basis for having a minor faction population.

I propose:

1) You have only 2 basic pops at the turn 1.

2) At the turn 2 a "minor faction event" is triggered. It allows you to get either 1 pop of a minor faction or some alternative bonus. The event could be represented by assisting (or not) a huge refugee ship, a discovery of an underground ice chamber system, etc.

It is more complicated but it will solve the both problems and add more flavor. What's your opinion?

Add that to your idea posting, please. :D

Regarding 2. That would be too OP. An already colonized but otherwise not at game start available planet seems too strong.

I edited the idea. :)

Regarding 2, I don't think it's OP because all major factions would benefit from it, not just the player.

True, everyone might choose one. But: It would, on the other hand seriously nerf all those minor factions to choose from which would occupy lower-tech planets. You see, Hissho would, for example, occupy some dry planet, which you would usually get in era 1 or 2. On the other hand, Deuyivans (or whatever these gas-bugs are called) would get a gas planet which is usually only accessible in era 4. I mean, you could argue that the difference in resource income is not that big, to which I agree, but I think it still should not be that way. The only way to get planets which you can't colonize yet should be by gaining control of such a planet, be it through persuasion or conquest. (I do not want to sound harsh, that's just my opinion on that matter :) )

You will be able to do that by customizing your faction!

Yeah! This will give incentive to hosting games with custom factions enabled!
