System and FIDSI loss victory conditions

Rationale: Many MP players prefer to end the game once there is a clear winner. For some an option to end the game at such a point would speed up the game.
Effect: Option to set x number of systems lost with x % of your empires FIDSI as a loss condition removing you from the game and removing all your systems. Hopefully this creates tense MP games where you have to keep defending your systems and patrolling borders matters.

Usually players are simply ragequitting when too far behind and leftover AI makes for a good ally related to pacifism bonuses and excessive influence expenditures.

Patrolling borders makes for time consuming gameplay that can slow the games down even further.

Supremacy victory already requires only the home systems to be taken over, under current "balanced" metagame those systems can be reached by off-lane travel in a turn or two with killfleets across entire maps with a hero that essentially makes them undefeatable through bonuses.

FIDSI loss can happen suddenly even through event penalties or bonuses wearing off, if I am a military craver and suddenly am forced to settle for 4 truces, yup, I went from +30% food to -80% food, if I am a pacifist leaving an alliance or even joining an alliance, the FIDSI change can go over 100%

If I can see any worth in this, perhaps there can be an "oh so hardcooooore" mode that punishes the home system loss with immidiate defeat, but balancing needs to followup.

(Under specific circumstances vodyani would rather move ark from home to a much better system available within the same turn. Such change would deny this ability)

Lumeris have a quest that requires owning a other faction (bith minor or major) home system, they also have an affinity that enables them to return it once that quest is complete.

First of all thanks for this discussion I appriciate it.

I know from experience in games like Civ4 such games where you can loose it all if you loose at a key point actually creates very fun and tense games. And since this would be an option if you do not like it you can simply discard the option.  But you do bring a point in that it would create more time consuming games where patrolling would have a larger importance.

Supremace victory indeed only require the home system  but all of the home systems at once so this would be different.

I agree FIDSI loss can happen suddenly, so it needs to be tied to system loss and to raw FIDSI not based on laws and such. But it is possible.

Actually yes this might be a much simpler option and it would create much of the same tension! Perhaps this is the best way of implementing this?

For vodyani perhaps there is a mothership ark that if you lost you would loose the game in such a game setting?
