In case you have missed it, Slowhands wrote a reply to the Love Letter thread on the forums:

"Dear community,

Eighteen months ago we decided to take our life savings, borrow money from friends and family, and do something risky and possibly even foolish: Launch Amplitude Studios and start the development of Endless Space.

We knew from the beginning that we wanted to get the players involved, because it seemed logical to us that the people who buy the game might actually have some good ideas for the contents. G2G and these forums are the expression of this fundamental belief, and will be key to Amplitude's games as we continue. We want to have and hear sophisticated consumers who can help us shape games that they want to play. (Some people view that concept as something new and different, which makes me worry about the rest of the industry. Anyway...)

Since the launch of the forums and the G2G process last spring, we have been awed, alarmed, amazed, and other-words-beginning-with-'a' about how positive and (generally!) helpful the community and the comments have been. You guys have helped us shape the game, and the lessons we are learning here are going to be applied to everything we do in the future. Like next year's expansion that was announced by SpaceTroll, we hope to bring you in early in the cycle and listen to your ideas as we develop. You get a game you like and we don't go out of business -- it doesn't get much more win-win than that, does it?

So here's a big, fat, teary-eyed 'We love you' from Amplitude back to everyone out there that is having fun with what we've done (or patiently putting up with the things we haven't gotten to yet).

Slowhands"
