Hi

I see StarDrive has the same publisher as Endless Space, anyone here that has played them both and could give some pro`s and cons?

Two differents games.

One in real time, with a wonderfull combat & design simulator (very sophisticated and probably one of the best design system), StarDrive.

One in turn per turn, with a very elegant & simple game design, with a big deph and variety of gameplay, Endless Space.

The two are equals, with great future, SD is a little more young than ES, with maybe more room to improve.

To give you something to consider : SD has a huge combat model whereas ES manage combat like a cinematic show with less interaction from the player. So if you prefere real time combat, go SD, if not go ES.

Ok, thx. Ye i see now that SD is a RTS 4X game. Sounds a little stressfull but maybe i`ll get around to try it after Disharmony, which i guess could take some time smiley: smile

I got SD when it came out and was quite disappointed.

It's not stressfull btw. since you can always pause and do whatever you want.

The ship-builder and combat-system might be nice and also looks good. The thing is that it is hardly important for the gameplay.

The main problem I had was that there was no way to force fights and it was all about sneaking around the opponents main-fleets and invading/bombing while he isn't there.

"Offense is the best defense" has never been truer than in SD. You cannot defend all of your planets and it goes constantly back and forth unless one side is wiped out.

I much prefer the chokepoints in ES, where I can see them coming and intercept them.

Actually SD and ES would complement each other quite nicely. The lacks of the one are the pros of the other. But as it is now, ES is the title with the lacks I can bear with, while I found SD hard to enjoy.

I see, thx man. I read much of the same things in different reviews and one of the things i like the most about ES is the depth and the lvl of detail so i guess i will pass on this one for now. Nevertheless, if it has the same progression as ES have had since release it could become brilliant with time.

ES is turn based, that's probably the biggest difference, SD is real time, although you can pause it and still give commands. SD has a far better ship design system than ES, ES has better Colony design, although with SD you can set up Trade routes between your own colonies, sending food to an all industry planet and vice versa. Stardrive has better combat than ES, and a much more simplistic research/technology tree, which needs improving. Diplomacy is also much less useful in Stardrive, which is a shame. Both have great races though.

I'd say at the minute, ES comes out on top, but SD was made by pretty much one guy, and he released it half finished, with work still going into it. Ask this question again in a few months, when disharmony's kinks have been sorted out, and Stardrive has more work done. They do compliment eachother pretty well. and when more work has been done to both, they could end up with only one major difference: turn based/real time. There might be a deal on Steam for it at the minute, there was a few days ago, and this is the last day of the sales so they might have brought it back. Stardrive is worth checking out.
