Firstly, awesome game, if I didn't think so I wouldn't be here.

But... my personal gripe: The Academy.

So one thing about games is immersion and flavour. You play as the cravers, you want to feel like you are the leader of ravenous hive chewing up planets and spitting them out like bubble gum that has lost its flavour. You play as the Horatio you want to feel like you are the Horatio, governing an empire of narcissistic bioengineers.

Why then, when I play as cravers and as a mighty craver hive leader, would I only allow myself to hire three heroes, who are (more often than not) non-craver in race. Why for the love of all that is holy would the craver hive reasonably think that two Amoebas and some Pilgrim lady would be the best choices in leading fleets to pillage the galaxy. Wouldn't they rather pick three especially ruthless cravers from the hive... And the Horatio, vein enough to try fill the galaxy with identical clones, why? Because other being are not pretty enough. With the cloning power of the endless, why would they pay some ugly outside prat to lead them, the freaken Horatio?

I liked how it was done in EL, you at least had the choice of hiring what type of heroes you liked if you wanted a mercenary feel to your academy then you could buy whatever hero, but you also had to option to have more purist academy of heroes all from your own faction.

I know it is mostly cosmetic, I mean with the same hero classes, different heroes pretty much can do the same thing mechanics wise, what they don't do however is enrich a faction's identity.

I would have also liked there to be some visibility of the faction leader, I am sure he is way too busy managing things on the home planet to fly around in some minor space fleet or be available in the academy but if it wasn't for the diplomacy screen you wouldn't even know he is there.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, is there anyone else out there that feels the same way about the hero academy?
