Hey there Amplitude.

Endless Space is a great game and very fun. I don't know how much you guys are working on it anymore as it seems pretty polished but I have been running into a bug in the game and also have a slight suggestion for computer automation on systems.

First of all the bug. This has been happening is pretty much every game I play. Sometimes it happens late int eh game sometimes it is early, I'm not sure what triggers it. It's a glitch with queuing system improvements and industry to dust/science, the issues seem to happen at the same time and seem to be connected. What happens is when you click a new improvement instead of going to the bottom of the queue it sets itself to the top of the queue, this can be extremely annoying even though you can rearrange them. This also seems to be linked with an industry to dust/science issue were when you set it queue this it has no effect on the system, the dust/science production is not increased and this persists through turn changes. One work around I found for this is queuing both of the research's together the one on the bottom of the queue being the one you want to use and then canceling the first, this makes it register for whatever reason.

Second is more of a convenience request for a change to automation on systems. I have no issue with micro managing my systems but when it gets to late game and you have a massive empire with tons of planets managing them becomes a bit to tedious and boring. One easy way to just get what you need from a system would be to set the computer to optimize a system for science of dust or whatever but the computer always seems to do superfluous upgrades that just drain the system. Infrastructure upgrades are all well and good but when i got a system on the back lines that I just want to produce science I don't need these upgrades on it. Just would be nice to streamline these automation options a bit more so they are more concentrated or have some sort of option to exclude the computer form upgrading specific improvements as a rule for automated planets.

That's it, Thanks for reading. Back to playing Endless!

Hello Carnun_RED,

Your bug should be caused when you alt+tab and then go back to the game. The game doesn't detect that "alt" has been released and thus always puts the improvement to the top. Simply pressing Alt will fix it. This is actually a "known issue" with our game engine, Unity 3D, but we can't ask our players to reset their shortcuts on Steam!

For your information here are the different shortcuts that can be used regarding the construction queue:

  • Alt+ Click: place the improvement to the top of the queue instead of the bottom
  • Ctrl+ Click: place the improvement on all systems where it's available to the bottom of the queue
  • Ctrl+ Alt + Click: place the improvement on all systems where it's available to the top of the queue

For the automation, I understand your opinion, but I would suggest you mod the game to modify the factor the factor in StarSystemAssignation.xml in order to fit to your wishes.

Cheers,
