I know it's far too early to speak about expansion, or other games with the same lore, but...

I was thinking about how Amplitude will soon rule the world as I finished most of the achievements of Mass Effect 3 (I only lack the "kill 5000 things"). And I thought "How could would it be to have an RPG in the Endless Space universe ?" and the answer was so evident I couldn't resist the urge to ask for devs if they have any idea for a medium future, not only for the game for also for the license.

And fellow gamers, what would you think of

  • A tactical game in simultaneous time that would simulate the ground invasion (yeah, in fact I had the idea of that thread while reading about the ground combat) ?
  • An RTS ?
  • An FPS ? No. Just kidding.
  • An RPG ?
  • A space battle simulator (Ahhhh, Tie Fighter !) ?
  • A space battle simulator but with a strong RPG feel like in Privateer (Yeah, I'm THAT old) ?
  • A Sim city game in a craver city ?
  • A dating simulating game between a craver and a UE female ?
  • A space golf game that would help the admiral to avoid kiling all their men : the winner of the golf would be the winner of the battle. ?
  • A tactical game in turn by turn like Titans of steel Warring Suns ? (free game. A must have !)
  • A combat game like an old game where you could upgrade your robot that had some special moves and the background could be used against your opponent (I found it ! One must fall ! So much great memories with that game) ?

I would love to see an RPG : that's, in my opinion, the best way to use at its fullest the great lore we have here.

These suggestions though sound more plausible as they don't necessarily require huge amount of investments to make them good, unlike FPS and RPG games nowadays. A tactical game like X-Com (yeah I'm also that old smiley: smile) could be a variant as well.

But most importantly I'd like to see Endless Space getting several expansions, this game I plan on playing for years and I expect it to be very successful. ES expansions would be a must!

    Yes, expansions are number 1.

But the lore is just that good it would be a shame to not use it to its full potential.

Just imagine a Planescape Torment-like RPG in the Endless Space universe. The Dust in itself can be the starting point of so many stories it's just crazy.

Expansions and DLC are awesome and should be first in line.

An RPG is a really really really really really really close second. smiley: smile

The good thing here unlike that of most other games is that if one world gets old you can easily just have the heroes board a spaceship and move on to the next.

Planescape Torment already did something like that. It was "planes" and they had a meaning. But I think the greatest pro from Endless Space is the role Dust is playing. Being a money and a fuel for magic can lead to very interesting plots. Not just th eusual "save the world" but more intricate things like in (yeah I know I'm repeating myself) Planescape Torment.

the best RPGs aren't about a grand scale scheme, but about the character (it may involve a lot more, but central interest is the character. Think Baldur's gate 1 and 2 or Fallout 1)

That's why I'm so eager to discover new races to know what kind of stories I could create with them smiley: smile

I know ES will be a great game, but I'd lso like to know if they have in mind that it can tell a great story apart of the 4X (sotiry that can be told in ES while you're 4X-ing).

And noone would have a golf game (imagine golf with low gravity or with distorted gravity. Hum) ?

VieuxChat: Yeah thats why Planescape torment is just one of the best RPGs out there to this date. smiley: smile

As for the RPG-part then you are right. But a world gets old at some point, you know what factions are there, youve explored the continent(s) or whatever. BG1-2 had lots and lots and lots of sidequests etc. Fallout was plain awesome since you could walk around in essentially whatever order you liked which I prefered and the same went for Dragon Age.

I mean just think of a space-version of an awesome RPG with a Dragon age--like-engine. *shudders with joy*... That would be glorious with 1st to 3rd person view etc. smiley: smile

And id also love a good story in the 4X but id be most interested in the 4x tbh.

This is an interesting idea; I forwarded it to the team and here's a reply:

Part of the plan when we developed the universe was to create something bigger than just one strategy game. In order for the universe to be interesting, it needs to have enough richness that almost any sort of game or story could be developed there.

So the answer is simple – we′ll see how our first game goes, and then figure out what we want to do next! But we′ve been very happy with the reactions to Endless Space, and we hope to keep working on all sorts of tales in this setting.

Wouhou ! Very good news indeed !

I want to thank the game writer behind such a good lore (don't he/she need an assistant ? *use the "Chat Potté" look*)
