Alright, I've spent a day playing the alpha and it's quite impressive. Obviously only an alpha build, but I got to thinking about what I'd like to see during the battle cinematics. I will say that the pan and zooms are excellent and have a real Battlestar Galactica feel.



First thought is grouping. While the fleets exchanging broadsides is fine, it would be nice to see smaller ships move in closer and larger ships stand off. Perhaps make it a bit more three dimensional like Birth of the Federation.



Second is that I'd like to see more of the over the shoulder shots. They've popped up fairly rarely for me.

I don't know if the feature exist to change the view per pressing key or right click.

Maybe an on/off option for the auto-camera could be nice.



I like your idea with the grouping too.

Having the option for an "Automatic/Manual" camera mode could solve the problem. In Manual Mode, you could switch between various pre-baked camera angles.



I'd also like to see something akin to Total War with regards to battles, where before a match you have time to asses what's known about your opponents, and can look over your cards. Unless that's a feature unlocked by tech later (to which I will make the argument it should be available from the begging).

I know you can look over the cards for a given fleet on the galaxy map, but I agree an Intel screen before a battle would be handy, perhaps tied in with the coming espionage features.
