I appear to be at a loss here... I have had colonies with Iconic Crystals, Void Stones, Dustwater, etc, but they are not being used by the system. I have the planet colonized, but they are not showing up as being used. Am I doing something wrong? I got them researched and I am like 200 turns into my game....

What do you mean not used?

I'm pretty sure that they give your solar systems bonuses. You don't actively use them, they are used automatically by your people. If you have a monopoly of the resource then you get an additional empire wide bonus.

Yes that should be all that is needed.

lets say your planet has titanium in it.

good you can make things out of titanium!

i know theres a canon that requires titanium to build.

without that, you can't build it.

now, to exploit the titanium, trade the tech or get it with the tech tree.

i don't think that you need any buildings for titanium though... just the tech tree advencement...

You still haven't explained what makes you think they are "not being used".



When you zoom into the system view, are the "Void Stones" etc. greyed out, instead of white?

In the system view, are they not listed under luxury resources?

In empire management, are they not listed under luxury resources?



You get a global bonus for your planets for having a single luxury resource. You get a stacking bonus for your empire for having multiples of a resource. You get a monopoly bonus for having enough multiples of a resource.



Nothing "consumes" the resources.



You have to unlock the respective techs - containment fields for the gems and minerals, xenology for the animalia, and personal shielding for the artifacts



Once unlocked, colonizing the planet they are on turns the greyed out listing in the system view to white



If your planet is blockaded (hostile ship in system orbit) your resources won't ship out to your empire

Alright thanks for the info. They are not grayed out so I guess I am using them. It is kinda confusing since the metals are purple and the others are white.

Purple = Strategic Resource

Grey = Luxury that has not been researched

White = Luxury that can be used
